This is something I did with my ex at my old old place but now that I'm single, I can reveal one of the romantic tricks up my sleeve. We had a fireplace and I went and stole as many rose petals I could fit in my backpack. I'd scatter the rose petals all around the lounge and have all these candles lit as well as the fireplace. I'd have blankets and food all readily made before she got home from training. It worked wonders.
If you dont have a fireplace...rose petals in the bathtub and candles AWAY from the bath edges also works wonders. Add crystal salts for the effervescent feeling for her to relax by herself if the tub isn't big enough for two.
