I recently hired five DVD's over the weekend and thought hey what a great idea for a forum. So here it is the official anthems movie review forum.

Post any opinions or anything of any relevence to the movies.

THE FORGOTTEN

I thought this was really good, it so was not what I was I expecting keep ya guessing for awhile, then wondeering where or what will happen next? Jullianne Moore does a great job as acting this distarut mother. The movie portrays the sci-fi side of things very well with out becoming to star trek like (excuse the pun)
tongue.gif

ELEKTRA

This was a dissapointment to me I was expecting so much more from this movie, and it did not deliver. The special effects are second to none tho, great use of visual effects that really made you go like wow. But other than that not really much there.
(just my opiinion that's all)

SHAUN OF THE DEAD

If you liked dawn of the dead, and you love british humour. Then this is for you lots of one liners and great british humour.

TAXI

This was a big surprse to me, I actually enjoyed this and thought it had enough storyline to keep it going. The car chases and driving skills are amazing and the actual car they use pretty impressive. (all you rev heads ). The story line was pretty predictable but none the less enough good laughs and action to keep you entertained. tongue.gif

TEAM AMERICA

For all of you who have not sen this yet...what you doin. This is one of those cult classics like Beavis and Butthead that you just have to see once. (if not twice wink.gif ). I enjoyed this, but then again I love cartoons too tongue.gif > I wont say to mucha bout this one as I willo let you ppls see it.

So there you have it some movies I have seen recently and waht I thought of them. Olease feel free to post your opinions and your reviews here

~Em~r
I know this isn't a new movie, but last night I watched "What Dreams May Come"

I can't decide whether I like it or not...

it had a lot of creativity in it, and was interesting... but yeah, I dunno.

Has any one else seen it?? what did you think?
~Em~r
We also watched Peter Pan - the one that came out about this time last year on DVD, not animated... I love it!!!! Jordan loves it too. And even tho its the same story, he now prefers to watch the movie, not the original disney cartoon - thank god. We were starting to get very sick of it!!!

Little Bear
well it can be... just on dvd or video first heheheh tongue.gif
SUPERSHOOTER
I see...

I hate Big Brother so much, it's the biggest crock of shit. It's like watching RaveAdelaide on TV laugh.gif
Davin
I don't think I would want to see RA shower naked on TV ohmy.gif
SUPERSHOOTER
laugh.gif

The only Big Brother entrant I can remember that is any good was Paul from last year, the Surfy guy who stirred shit pretty well, made it half worth watching. Now it's all morons crying about eachother and trying to get with other housemates.
Harley
Kick out all the women or all the guys and lets see punch ups! now ill buy that for a dollar!

Harley
SUPERSHOOTER
If Big Brother wanted to be really fun, he should have put random couples in the house, but they aren't allowed to tell other housemates they are couples. Then you'd have the other guys trying to pick up the chicks from the couples and that'd cause heaps of unconfortable situations and make it worth watching haha!

I saw Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxey. Would like to say i have read the books and they are better but, there is something rather hilarous about watching people get smacked in the face by shovels blink.gif . Um if you seen it you will know what i am talking about. tongue.gif

We watched Elektra last night and I really liked it! Keep in mind I haven't seen daredevil and am not familiar with the comic where both characters originated from. And I really like Jennifer Garner - its not one of her better movies, but I liked in none the less!!!

A Brief Synopsis of the Film... When Jen and Kira welcome a fiery and unexpected visitor to their castle they learn that the very existence of the U-mun people, who live in the searing heat of the centre of the earth, is threatened by the death of their sun. There is apparently only one thing powerful enough to heal the ailing star - a shard of the Crystal.

The Gelflings flatly refuse the request for a fragment and the desperate visitor takes matters into her own hands and steals one, making a hasty escape through tunnels deep in the bowels of the castle. So begins an adventure that will see love and goodness triumph over evil and re-introduce cinema-goers to a host of indelible characters including the mystic Ur-sol, Aughra the one-eyed seer, the evil Skeksis and their crab-like and violent Garthim foot soldiers.

Thanks to 'Kiera'.

It's gonna be called The Power of the Dark Crystal

This is all I can find about the sequel to the dark crystal at the moment but it is definately going ahead tongue.gif

Also just finished watching 'Son of the Mask'. It was pretty good if you like animation and side splittin humour in parts, definately one you will either hate or love. Not much story line just animated humour .....bottom line if you like cartoons and animation then you will like this

well tonight i checked out War of the Worlds and to be honest i was a bit worried that it was gonna be shit. Having aliens coming in and taking over the world.... many producers have tried and few have impressed me! and Having tom cruise in it is bound to make it a flop!

But i was actually pleasently suprised how much i enjoyed this movie. The storyline was VERY believable which helped me warm to the movie right from the start and gee's the shit tom goes through! its amazing, edge of ya seat action whole 2 hours!

Camera work and effects also sensational. spielberg has once again raised the bar!

Decepticons vote of approval.........

8/10. a must see for any sci fi fan.

ANY ONE SEEN" WHAT THE BLEEP DO WE KNOW"

I think thats what its called , I think its at the nova and I think I want to see it biggrin.gif
tangent23
yeah i've seen it..

it was interesting [though i was already familiar and open to the views presented], done in a doco style with a fictional story tying it all together, funny in parts, fairly clear while presenting sometimes complex ideas..

a little bit too long i thought, and strays slightly into new agey stuff, but interesting and worth seeing nevertheless..

topics cover:

thought and reality [quantum physics, parallel universes etc]
emotions and chemicals [hypothalamus, addictions, enzymes and behaviour etc]
ah that's all i can remember for now

you feel really positive as you leave the theatre biggrin.gif
jase31
sounds good - and thought provoking
those concepts make you look at everything fron a different angle

hope its still running !

looking forward to sin city.. i have the graphic noivel in my bedside table.. i think i'll read it before i go see it..

some movies you just have to see on the big screen.. like Hero, the colours just aren't done justice off DVD [sorta richer and more intense on film]... but then i guess i'm fairly visually oriented..

latest movie i saw was Sin City and was that a wierd movie or what!

i went into it not knowing a thing about it. the whole things black and white, with a dab of colour every now and then. i found it pretty interesting but at the end of it i was glad i was watching a download and didnt spend $15 on it!

its basically 3 short films about revenge and over the course of the movie all three stories overlap.

my fave one was the first 1 though biggrin.gif

fairly happy quinten tarentino had some input into the fight scenes. made for some fairly disturbing fight scenes biggrin.gif

1950s Film Noir style which was all shot in BW obviosuly... the color was related yo hidden meanings and true motives... Some have been calling the style Hyper-Nior smile.gif

Not unlike Pulp Fiction if you think about it.. also directed by Quentin Tarantino, athought he was only Co-director on Sin City.

Frank Miller the righter of the original comic was also co-director and he kept it true to the comic book style... all the characters has superpowerish skill all understated in the writing and... and little things like the cars speeding and getting airborne over bumps in the road are just perfect snapshots of comic book frames!

Very clever.. so many levels... old and new / graphic but without alot of violence... Most of the violence is implied and you don't see it which makes you mind fills in the blanks!

11 out of 10
buph
ohmy.gif ohmy.gif 11 out of 10 you must have liked it tehn, might have to put it on my list to see.

MOVIE = THE ISLAND

After reading some poor review of this in the advertiser i went into this movie not expecting too much. But this movie blew me away. what a great sci fi story. makes you think twice that this sort of shit may be possible in the future.

i thought the action scenes were awesome. there is a scene much similar to the highway scene in the matrix:reloaded and this is ridiculously over the top with destruction everywhere which impressed me.

bottom line is story line is very believable which helps sustain the storyline and theres enough action to keep ya entertained all the way through.

Deceptions Rating: 8/10

Agreed with your score and breakdown.... but they seemed to 'get away in the nick of time' all little too much for me!

what u mean crappy comedy? dawn of the dead? this is basically dawn of the deads sequal. do you mean shaun of the dead?

i also saw LAND of the dead last week and i have to rate it pretty poorly. I thought dawn of the dead was a much better movie. Maybe coz this is just much of the same ol' stuff. still worth a watch though.

when i say a sequal i mean whilst all these movies can be watched individually, each movie the zombie population seems expanded. i.e house of the dead, a group of ppl trapped inside a house with a few zombies outside, dawn of the dead, a whole city full of zombies, land of the dead, whole world full of zombies.

6.5/10

Also saw advance screening of Kicking & Screaming the new movie with Will Ferrall in it. And in my opinion Will should give it a break for a while. whilst this one was more entertaining and funnier then his last flick i saw him in, bewitched, its still not up there with such classics as Anchorman, and Old School.

another 6.5/10.

whens there gonna be a decent movie to see smile.gif

Nar i mean DAWN of the dead, i thought it was good and have watched it again but it didnt really seem like a serious movie as it went along, the start was all scary and serious but just the blood that squirted out of the people like someone was just holding a squizey sauce bottle behind them and pushing on it when they got bitten. I dunno just thought it was a little dumb. Its funny when they are standing on the roof of the mall and picking off the zombies, thats what i would do with my time if the world was all zombies. haha

I do agree that all zombie movies are pretty much the same though, but its all fun to watch

Wedding crashers---great movie full of excellent one liners and side splitting humour. Vince Vaughn is pure comedic gold. If you have not sen this yet what you doin tongue.gif

Deuce Bigalow- American Gigalo----agreed this is a pretty average movie, was not as good as i had hoped there is only so much pathetic humour you can stand, not one i would recommend

Unleashed (new Jet Li movie)---Great fight scenes in true Jet Li fashion with a rather twisted and warped sense of relity thrown in, well worth a look. wink.gif

Batman Begins---I did not mind this one to much, it was okay not as good as I thought but still a great sequel to the calssics. It was good to finally see what happened to make him Batman smile.gif

no way babe it was a bloody crack up laugh.gif !!!
i much preferd the oompa loompas in this remake........i hated the old ones (sorry hehe)
Tim Burtons added his own flavour to the storyline (much of the movie i compared to Edward Scissorhands, Especially the beggining of the movie). The music was done by Danny Elfman (as done in Edward Scissorhands aswell) and was great

this movie was based on rohl darhls (sp?) book, darhl is an imagionative quirky character, like burton, and i feel that burton definatly captured wat darhl was trying to express through his book and burtons interpretation of it was more wat darhls vision was than the origional movie.

the way that Depp portrayed this charactor was fantastic, and it truely proves my opinion of why he is one of the greatest actors of our time!! willy wonka is spose to be as strange and insane as Depp portrayed him to be.

smile.gif i loved this movie and recomend it to everyone

yeh its a wikid movie!
its a movie that seems to be more mature than the first one, a little less bubbly, a lot more tech-savvy, but its still very kiddy friendly (like Michael.. biggrin.gif ) just darker than the original (unlike Mr Jackson.. laugh.gif ).
i reckon it was made more in mind of those who grew up seeing the first one, as it seems to make more of a successful impact on these people.

Depp is great tho the way he portrayed WW, i swear i've seen by another actor in a completely different movie - just can't put my finger on it! his laugh and odd sentences i'm sure i've watched before somewhere... its definitely not Depp's original character portrayal.
As for being more inline with Dahl's idea of Wonka, as far as i am aware, Mr Dahl actually had Wonka much more
The real star of the movie, in my books, is the lil kid playing Charlie - i thought he put in the best performance outta everyone.

The new oompa-loompas sorta worked for me (well for Mr Wonka actually). these new guys are more inline with Dahl's orignial version of the story tho, even down to the catterpillar-eating stuff...
Decepticon

When she is separated from her friends and becomes convinced that someone or something is chasing her, her vacation becomes a terrifying nightmare.

Twisted Pictures' first film under the new label, SAW, also distributed by Lions Gate, was one of the most profitable films of 2004.

CATACOMS:
Starring Shannyn Sossamon (A KNIGHT'S TALE) and Alecia Moore aka Pink .

The film is co-written and co-directed by David Elliot and Tomm Coker and will begin principal photography in Bucharest, Romania on March 7th.

I am very much looking forward to seeing this movie when it is released...

anyway, i culdnt find it, rolleyes.gif which was a bit disapointing, but then i rememberd that i could start up a new one biggrin.gif

the last movie i saw was called White Oleander (no its not about gardening!)
its about a young girl who's mother murders sum guy, so the girl gets sent to different foster homes, gets into some pretty nasty situations and so on....
it's about finding urself, and getting through some unnesesary events some people are faced with, things that they cannot change or really react to, but have to find a way through, therz some funky art, it could be an inspirational movie even to those who dont have all that many family problems, and id say its a gd movie for both parents and children (NO-ONE under 14).....

anyone else got anything to comment about? smile.gif

Hey guys i watched this for the first time yesterday, I got the DVD a few weeks ago in Malaysia but I havn't seen it in Australia yet (haven't really looked either)

Great movie, my favourite bit is Frankie's evil cocaine dog, pissed myself.

Here's the blurb thing..

Its All Gone Pete Tong is a comedy following the tragic life of legendary Frankie Wilde. The story takes us through Frankie's life from one of the best DJs alive, through subsequent battle with a hearing disorder, culminating in his mysterious disappearance from the scene. A genius in his own right, he clawed his way to the top of the DJ ranks, now living the opulent life of a superstar, he resides in his trophy villa in Ibiza with his trophy wife. This is when tragedy hits. Born with a hearing disorder he is rapidly going deaf with only one functioning ear to complete the new Ibiza season. How is he doing behind the decks? Horrible. How is he doing in the studio where he produces his remixes? Frankie dives into a low period, struggling with deafness in utter depression. After a year of locking himself away he emerges on the other side with a fresh attitude towards his affliction. He accepts his deafness and learns to function without sound. Will Frankie make it back to the DJ booth? Will his new single be any good? Will he get back his opulent old life or does he even want it back? When you can't hear, things look very different.

horror movie that doesnt keep u hiding in ur seat & mite not giv u nightmares, mite make u cry in the last scenes & worry about wat will happen to the characters.... i might of found it boring if i wasnt with some wikid ppl....

about this mother that just got a divorce (in new york) & she ahs had to buy this appartment that is haunted.. really shows how dodgy all the ppl in her life r... & the main characters r her & her daughter (sori i ddnt really pay attention to the names, ther not no name actors but i dnt usually bother with that stuff)

rating.... maybe a 4/10...

Shawn of the Dead - EEEEEEeeeekkkkk tongue.gif It was soooo funny . . . . .

The film work is great - the 2 main characters bounce off each other in sequence. Which works so well for us viewers on the couch at home.
I belly laughed when they are in the pub and he is trying to keep his relationship together and his mate comes over and asks if any of you c nts wants a beer.... very funny as she is just rousing on him for his choice in best friend - then the next time my laughter exploded was when they first see the girl in the garden who is zombie - they think that she is 'just' drunk and lost her way drunk in theri back garden - she approaches him and he thinks she is tyring to crack onto him - it is just hilarious and so well done. Er sorry love but I have just come out of a relationship - he says to her as she approaches him . . . Egad very cool and very funny.

C L O S E R

Closer I liked visually - And seeing the Star Wars chick in her stripping out fit was nothing less that spectacular. I liked Julia Roberts husband's character. I thought he personality was great. I liked his voice also. Jude Law was average but his looks are anything but average, so you can forgive his ability.

I liked the story - it was not heavy, not inspiring but kept me interested the whole way through - I think that this was also due to the colours of the movie and the environmment it was filmed in. Worth a look but not something I would rush out to watch again....

But I do recommend Shawn of the Dead. . . . Woot Woot.

Willy Wonak rocked Agreed!!

The original was fantastic as well, i liked the way he didnt try to recreate the old one, but instead did his own version. it was definatley a success and Jonny Depp was perfect for the roll (what a honey!!)

i didn't mind Dukes of Hazzard! it wasn't fantastic, but it wasn't a dive either.

I liked it better than number one - but I haven't seen number one since it first came out .. so I may just be favoring what is more recent in my mind, who knows!

Either way, Saw 2 is a good movie.

I just saw Serenity - great movie.

Getting the whole Firefly TV series now as a result!

recently watched Island the other night and thoroughly enjoyed it. kept you on your toes for most of ta movie all though the beginning is a bit slow and boriong. If you have ever read or watched a perfect world you will see the similarities laugh.gif

Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire rocks!!!!! smile.gif But if you haven't seen the first couple or read any of the books, you might get a bit confused.....huh Joker_4???? huh.gif

Hired the Butterfly Effect on the weekend too - better late than never I guess!! Loved it smile.gif

Anchor Man sux bigtime though - didn't even finish watching it!

Will Ferrell is an acquired taste I think, he uses the type of comedy that is pretty much hit or miss.

I thought the movie was hilarious - then again, I find anything with him in it (or written by him) pretty damn funny.

war of the worlds on dvd - so hated the movie (the tiny bit i saw of it - sunday was sleep day!!!) Toby agreed.. complete waste of time!!! Tom Cruise is the biggest tosser on the face of the earth and he really showed it in this film.

we watched the muppets movie last night too... that was a struggle, not enough of the old guys and a little too much breaking into song for me!!

wolf creek, contrary to popular opinion, hated it... not at all scary and didn't rate the acting in it at all.... nice to see some familiar landmarks tho!!
Sangr
Harry Potter was awesome and just watched Saw 2. Amazing twist in the story that one.

Currently waiting to go see Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence down at the Palace. Going to see king Kong soon as well.

I agree with you mostly about Tom Cruise, but get 'Collateral"...he rocked in that!!! Played the bad guy very well I thought....

We watched 'the Island' last night...both Ty and I enjoyed it...interestiing concept for a movie indeed....

collaterol i can tolerate... he should only play bad guys.... plays what he is!!!

Just finished watching Born to Fight, a thai movie from the producers of Ong Bak. The movie was pretty weak, but the action and a couple of stunts in particular were HEAPS funny... There's 2 guys fighting on top of a semi and one gets knocked off and falls next to the wheels of another semi... NO SHIT his head misses the wheels by inches ohmy.gif In the dvd extras you see heaps of out-takes and stuff and they actually show that scene and all the crew freaking out cos they thought he was gonna get run over! Heaps of stunt scene out-takes too... I really hope those guys got paid well, that's all I'm saying laugh.gif

Bottomline... Watch it if you want to laugh at crappy acting and CRAZY stunts, or if you've seen everything else smile.gif

A true story that I highly reccomend...very moving protrayal of a African man who takes over 1000 refugees into the hotel he works in and keeps them all safe from the massacres going on in his country, eventually getting them relocated to a refugee camp where they'll be safe...just makes me glad to have been born in Australia yet again.... sad.gif

the original 1930's version was on the abc last night late, got me interested.

yeah the dinosaurs where in the original. You are right tho if they cut out half of the shots where people are just looking at one and other the movie would have been improved and a lot shorter. And the beginning was too long too. we didn't need to know why everyone was there etc. would have been cool to start the action a bit earlier.

King Kong was awesome! Best scene was the fight with the 3 T-Rex's, he fucking OWN3D them all! It was great! The graphics were well done....apart from the stampede scene, it looked a little too much, althought the velocioraptors got cained haha.

It's worth the extra hour, it's in depth, not like standard movies!

I saw the Corpse Bride last night.. what a great movie! i loved it. For those who really hate musicals dont bother.. i wouldn't classify it as one, but they do break out into song every now and then.

the characters look great and the use of colour was amazing.. helped you to understand the characters moods...

it is a bit scarey i wouldn't talke the little ones to see it there are alot of dead ppl/skeletons and things in the movie... and the part with the bride when she comes out the grtound.. not something the kiddies would really like!

Green street hooligans - really good, not what I expected

The Descent - one of the dumbest, pointless movies I've ever seen...A waste of time

The legend of zorro - I agree with ravvy... funny, a bit cliche'd, but worth watching

Today you die - why is steven segal still making movies??? If anyone else has seen this, did you spot the (many) errors, both in story flow and in the stunts??? I guess that's what happens when primary school kids make movies!!

Last night we watched Human Traffic Remixed. Along with some bits that never made the original, it appears to have some sections added in that must have been filmed more recently. Broken Flowers M
After receiving an anonymous letter informing him that he has a 19-year-old son who may be looking for him, a man (Bill Murray) embarks on a journey in search of clues from four former girlfriends in this new film from Jim Jarmusch.

liked it... similar to Lost in Translation

Chronicles Of Narnia - The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe PG
The first novel in the seven-part The Chronicles of Narnia series concerns a war between good and evil, pitting the magnificent lion, Aslan, against the forces of darkness in the magical world of Narnia.

liked it... a little slow in parts and good fun!

Fun With Dick And Jane M
In this update of the 1977 comedy, Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni star as a wealthy married couple who find themselves unemployed and in need of money, so they turn to robbery to pay the bills.

so so... don't like Mr Carrey much... but not a bad remake

Just Like Heaven PG
A young woman suddenly shows up at a guy’s apartment, claiming that it is hers – and then mysteriously disappears. She keeps returning, and the guy becomes convinced she is a ghost. As they try to find out the truth about her, they fall in love.

liked it... for a feel good chick flick

King Kong M
From director, Peter Jackson - the iconic story of the gigantic ape captured in the wild and brought back to civilisation where he meets his tragic fate.

so so... to long... to boring... i think i need to watch the original to appreciate it properly

The Family Stone M
For the Christmas holidays, the eldest son of an easy-going, bohemian family brings home his girlfriend – a high-strung, Manhattan career woman who is totally out of her environment in the household which is thrown into turmoil by her presence.

so so... wouldn't see it at the movies smile.gif or hire it at the video shop

Saw it 2day..UNREAL movie! some parts where a lil unneccessary...but in doing it (literally tongue.gif ) paves the way for more films + seeing bits of Kate Beckinsale is SOO NOT a bad thing!!! grrrrrr YUMMY!! biggrin.gif
Was quite graphic in comparison to the 1st one, but i really enjoy the way that the director uses ppl in werewolf suits instead of CGI crap.. adds more depth to the film IMO. it explains alot of the Lycen vs Vampire myth so yeah thoroughly enjoyed it ... 4 out of 5 stars cool.gif

what did u think Shagsalot??
nickdub
sahara.....expected shite, but i actually liked it, even if it was pretty farfetched in places.......i just love any film that steve zahn is in.....one very funny krunt

Just got back after seeing Underworld 2 - loved it. Better than the first, and I enjoyed the first a whole damn lot.

Surprised to see such a full on sex scene - but because Kate Beckinsale is in it, I think I'll agree it was a good scene smile.gif

Saw 2, saw it about a week ago, was pleasantly surprised that it lived up to the standard set by Saw. Was kind of expecting it to be a mediocre hunt for more money. Even the twists were awesome. An open ending as well, I dont know if I should hope they make a sequel, or hjope they leave it as is. Two good ones in a row, could very easily be ruined by one bad one.

yes we saw all these... and didnt fall asleep... im proud... anyways...
underworld: not as good as everyone keeps saying... i was a little disappointed... i think the sex scene looked real fake (as i know it is) and his parts didnt meet up with her parts, if that makes sense...

fun with dick and jane: was stupid funny... just the way i like it... i thought it was funny... i really liked this movie but i think its a dvd movie... i wouldnt pay $15 to see it...

exorcism of emily rose... what a brilliant movie... i loved this one so very much... i think it was really well done! if anyone hasnt seen it i strongly recommend you do... i cannot say how much i loved this movie... glad it was the last movie of the three...

i saw Tim Burtons Corpes Bride last night with a great bunch of ppl! biggrin.gif

i thought it was rather good.... the animation was fantastic!!

i was not a huge fan of the singing parts....only because there was not much variety in their voices...as in high and low pitches and heaps inbetween. however this could just have been the speakers that we listend to them thro. and also everyone seemed to sing at the same time so it was hard to hear the words

the music was by danny elfman wub.gif he is absolutly awesome!!

i loved the darkness of this film, it was true to burtons style. but it also had some really funny parts.

i think it is suitable for all ages, it is not too scarey for children....however the humour is more aimed at adults.

*Edit: not on here thank you*

What movies have you seen that you would consider too scary? I was the only one of my friends who didn't want to walk out of Wolf Creek. The scariest movie I've ever seen was 'Audition' which is a Japanese horror flick. Japanese people are fucking crazy when it comes to horror.

Hostel was very typical Hollywood horror, without the retarded storyline. The first half hour was basically porn. The rest was obvious scary, the music let me know when to hide behind my hands tongue.gif and don't you worry, I spent a good twenty minutes all up I'd say hiding behind my jumper, haha!

The storyline is good. And one of the actors is cute cute cute wink.gif

G.

Eep! Yeah, wolf creek.... a movie I definitely WON'T be seeing. I've heard all about it, and thats way too much for me!

Is it gory horror, or twisted fuck-with-your-mind horror?

i don't normally watch that many new movies but here's what i've seen recently

Batman Begins:
wikid, true to the original comic book and very well directed and made.

Jar Head:
kinda av, nothing too stand out about it, unless your a military head and love americans.

King Kong:
it looks good. if you can't say anything nice then don't say it....

Lord Of War:
Interesting film, well directed and written, Nicholas Cage did a good, not great, job but this movie does help hilight some of the attrocities that go on in this world. if you want to feel depressed after watching a movie then this one's for you. other than that i thought it was 3.5 stars - outta 5

Munich:
Steven Spielberg is the best movie producer of all time. as a whole i was thoroughly entertained by it. some of the violence was a liiiiiiiittle heavy but soon it'll be the norm... I'm not sure just how historically accurate it is but who cares, watch it as a movie and you won't be let down.

Sin City:
FCUKING AWESOME!!! see it, see it now.

Ghost in the Shell:
Absolute classic, i just had to see it again.

Robin Williams an Evening at the Met:
ROFLMAO!!! to fully get half the stuff he says you'll need to be over the age of 25, while a little old now still makes me howl with laughter.

Bill Hicks Relentless:
if you dunno who he is then download all you can and strap yourself in for a journey of enlightenment and hillarity. arguably one of the best comediens of our time, he see's the world from an angle i know you would all love.

Harold and Kumar go to White Castle:
Stoner flick of the decade! if you haven't seen it already, hook up some gear, smoke your self silly and hit play. fuggin classic!!!

just a couple from my vault. hope ya like 'em

Or you could ask me to borrow the DVD that I imported :-D

You've got to have a certain region DVD player, or we could just organise a movie (cept that this is stand-up comedy) night at my place, movie and pizza seems to go down well, cept I live in Northern suburbs.

one of the funiest guys on the planet - while he is technically dead his body is no doubt around the place somewhere - and his standup routine, if you can call it a routine... . G, you're a real idea's girl, Hicks and Pizza is a winning combo in anyones books! tongue.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif

Lol... If you had any idea how much hassling I had to do to get that damn DVD imported sleep.gif I'm still waiting to get his biography from the library, it's been on hold for months :-(

But yeah, if anyone else is interested I'll try to organise something, otherwise I'd be happy to... Actually I'd be lying if I said I'd lend it out, I'd rather that DVD not leave my house cuz last time it didn't come back for two months.

"Bill Hicks LIVE - One Night Stand, Relentless, and Revelations" is basically the comedian himself (you may remember him from Human Traffic, before Jip goes out on the town, the comedian does a bit of a speech about how he's taken a lot of drugs and had a real good time, didn't hurt anybody, didn't rape anybody, didn't lose ermmmmm one fucking job, LAUGHED MY ARSE OFF and went on with my day happy.gif) doing what he does best, jokes on drugs and stupid americans.

Gabby,

I think it has been made quite clear that this sort of talk is inappropriate on this forum.
As a moderator, it is required for us to write *edit + reason* in the thread we are editting. Unless of course we delete an entire post.
I would also like to point out that I am not the only mod on here...
As a moderator in the lifestyle subforum, I, along with mel, SpecialK and the global moderators (buph, missvixen, foonji, PaulHamon and Davin) have a responsibility to ensure all inappropriate behaviour is kept to a minimum.
I've decided to leave this post up for you, seeing as you have a problem with me carrying out my responsibility, and would like to behave inappropriately, and leave it to the other mods to decide whether it should be left up or not.

Posts I have editted of yours I would have editted regardless of who it was directed to, and who wrote it. So please do not feel victimised in this censorship as it certainly not the case.

Usually, I would be required to say all of this via PM, but as you seen insistant on questioning my actions publicly, I am answering them publicly. (is that how u spell publicly? it looks wrong...)

Now, I trust you will be keeping your personal gripes with me off of this site in the future, and keeping anthems the friendly, happy place that everyone enjoys it as. Please direct all of that to that other forum which is well known for the bullshit biggrin.gif

Anyway.... movies biggrin.gif

Saw Jarhead today with Jonesy, loved it, it was a great movie, but had a SHIT ending. Terrible! I see the point they were making, but the ending sucked balls.

Had the entire cinema to ourselves tho wink.gif only two people in there! laugh.gif what are the odds of that!!
Gabtron
It's not that I feel victimised by you or anything, technically it has nothing to do with you it's just unfortunate that you're the only mod who seems to have a problem with the things I've written, or perhaps the only one who is at the computer when I seem to write them. I'm not having a go at you personally either. If anyone says something to me that I dislike or disapprove of I'm not going to ignore it, life is boring if you always play by the rules :-P But I am sick and tired of my freedom of speech rights being taken away from me and for this reason alone I will play nice and "do the right thing" by Anthemites.

Oh, and it's spelt Gabbie.

MOVIES.

Movie that I saw recently (lol, yes I'm a bit slow) was Rainman, and to be honest I wasn't all that impressed. I thought the acting by Dustin Hoffman was incredible (helps when you're a method actor) but Tom Cruise's character was SOOOOO hated by me that I couldn't get into it!

Hopefully going to see Brokecrack, I mean Brokeback Mountain tomorrow, gotta loaf around ttp while the new girl does her 1st shift on her own in case anything breaks sleep.gif I'll try and see at least one movie and report back.

Thats fine Gabby. And, I'm sure you already know, but you are well within your rights to report any post you find inappropriate as well. Be it to you, or to other, or in general. Us mods are just trying to keep all under control. We all get carried away sometimes (ask anyone, I'm well known for it! wink.gif tongue.gif ) be it something on the forum thats upset us or just having a bad day in general! I apologise for assuming you felt personally victimised, I now see that isn't the case.

You’ve been fantastic and I hope you enjoyed it. There is a point, is there a point to all of this? Let’s find a point. Is there a point to my act? I would say there is.

I have to.

The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it’s real because that’s how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it’s very brightly coloured and it’s very loud and it’s fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question, is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, “Hey – don’t worry, don’t be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride…”

And we… kill those people.

<Ha ha>

“Shut him up.”

“We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up. Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and my family. This just has to be real.”

Just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn’t matter because: It’s just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It’s only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one. Here’s what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money that we spend on weapons and defences each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.

Thank you very much, you’ve been great.
