yeah pretty much.
I use the term "song" for music that is more about the lyrics than it is the actual music production. IE: commercial music, Top 40, band music etc and I use the term "track" for dance music that is more about the technicality/music production.
IE - If someone were to ask me my favourite song, the response would be "In the arms of sleep" by Smashing Pumpkins. If someone were to ask me whats my favourite track, the answer would be PVC by Eryk Orpheus and Braincracking by Neophyte.
Its not an "official" definition/difference... but thats how I refer to it, as do many people I know
Sneaky SoundSystem - UFO
Such a great track.. my current ringtone. I love her voice.

Moloko - Familiar Feeling (acoustic version - the vocals are brilliant and almost haunting)
(an acoustic version by a blind man)
Ash Grunwald - Give Signs (this is a song that I selected for a friend from the Palace to dance to)
Bill Withers - Aint No Sunshine (an acoustic version by a blind man)
Donovan Frankenreiter - Beautiful Day (an absolute feel good song that always makes me happy)
All these songs have nothing but raw guitar licks and melodies. Absolutely recommend you to trace these tracks and have a listen or
