Oz Monopoly

Thanks to SMP971 for putting me onto this - this could be the most important gaming event in history! or maybe not ...

Monopoly are developing their Australian version and need our help to pick out the most valuable real estate in the country. Basically each day between now and the end date, we can each vote once for the piece of the country we believe should take up the "prized blue" areas (traditionally Park Lane and Mayfair). I expect qld or nsw to take the cake eventually but we can all do our part for SA by voting every day!

it's a very simple page with a good easy layout - no clutter - and easy voting process so check it out and do your bit to kick the eastern states off their perch!

woo hoo! you are right tash - different browsers will allow new votes on the same day nice one - now if anyone is really keen you can also clear the cookie from monopoly.com.au and vote again - as many times as you like (or can be fked) on any given day!

i tried to vote again today but my browser wont allow me to do it

clear the cookie and you will be good to go. you could just clear all cookies but that will log out of sites like anthems. firefox will let you choose cookies to remove, or if you use IE you can go to the cookie directory and just delete the one from monopoly ...

Barossa Valley has the Monopoly

THE Barossa Valley and Adelaide have scored the prime real estate positions in a new Australian Monopoly board game unveiled today.

The wins are the result of a national online poll in which nearly 17 million votes were cast over five weeks.

Nearly half of all votes were made by South Australians, with the Barossa Valley easily winning the prestigious Mayfair thanks to 2,046,136 votes.

The popular tourist spot and Adelaide, which scored Park Lane with 22.95 per cent of the overall vote, are among 22 regions featured on the new board.

They included mining areas Kalgoorlie, Broken Hill and Sovereign Hill.

However, surprisingly, Sydney missed out on getting a spot by just 0.6 of a percent.

Barossa Tourism's Julian Maul said the whole region would be celebrating the region's win.

"Monopoly is Australia and the worlds best loved game and we have no doubt that this will lift the profile of our beautiful region and be a boost for tourism,'' he said.

The new Australian Monopoly, which will be on sale from tomorrow, also includes Aussie tokens including a ute, surfboard and thongs.

The dog token has also been replaced with a labradoodle that originated in Australia.

Well this clearly identifies there are a lot of poeple in Adelaide who have nothing better to do than sit on the internet all day filling out polls & posting crap in forums

Nerding it up is an understatement.........

I think it's great for the state and i think people very proud of Barossa
Getting pride of place on the board will be a great thing for tourism...

I think thousands and thousands of government works would have been enourage to vote...

Many many millions of tourists come to Australia and 90% skip Adelaide... because we don't have much to offer... or that is what they think... anyway...

i think more motivated people here, 50,000 people from the barossa reginous would have been online voting very day just for the tourist dollars : )


PLUS since you can VOTE for other STATES BAROSSA would have been the ONLY place most AUSTRALIAN had heard OF!
