Seeing as I had such a wonderful experience out today (lol feel the sarcasm) It inspired me to start this thread. Share your good or bad experiences on restaurants/cafes wherever... so the ones doing the right thing can get the good attention and the others... well... be known for how dodgy they are!!!
my experience:

Lunch booked for 12:30pm - which is when we arrive, wrong menus are on the table when the menu had been booked and set for the last couple of weeks. We booked a christmas menu not a function menu which they admitted when we first arrived then later go oh no this is the menu that was booked blah blah blah. Anyways they kept having a nice snigger at us all and didn't bother to fix this up for half an hour or so.

Then said oh its no problem ordering the items from the previous menu - like ok why not just say that to start with?!?!

Were rude with service, didn't smile and just made it seem painstaking to be there.

Finally got our lunch 2 hours later with another half hour wait for dessert.

Now feeling very sick!! It wasn't a huge ask, we weren't narky - they admitted they were wrong then took it back. Seriously what has happened to good ol fashioned service?!

Oh and the place is called fizz, its on the promenade glenelg - somewhere i wont be going to again

My favourite place I've eaten will always be Ying Chow but I cant go there now as its something my ex and I used to do all the time. Too many memories.

Worst place is any fast food joint. I feel so guilty gorging on HJ's, Maccas and that.

Fav Pub for food and drinks - the Strathmore. I'm biased but they serve great food in my opinion; and plus all the staff know me so its good biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Worst Pub - Buckingham Arms. Great food (coz it's all you can eat) but just the worst service I've ever received. dry.gif

Fav non-asian restaurant - I like Cibo Ristorante on O'Connell St (around the corner from my place). All class. Great food but can be expensive; and excellent service. Highly recommended. Get in there quick before it closes as Salvatore Pepe has sold off the Cibo chain. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Worst non-asian restaurant - Caffe Primo TTP. Great service (hot waitresses wink.gif ) but the food is...meh

i agree with you on that one . minus the hot waitresses and plus the hot bar guy tongue.gif
{Bunny}
OK, I'm not going to point out the ones I thought were good...But here's my where NOT to eat tip

Revolving Restaurant...BAD...Hot and stuffy in the when I went, the air conditioner was broken or something and they did nothing to make our stay more comfortable

Zazas Cafe...VERY BAD...Food isn't thrown out when off...Tested by smell test which is NOT cool...The owner and the chef has no idea how to run/manage a kitchen...Alot of things are cross contaminated for example the same knife that just cut a turkey sandwich then cuts a chicken sandwich and a ham sandwich and then it will cut a vegetarian sandwich...I could go on all day about how bad the food is there, but I wont...Just don't eat there laugh.gif

Umm can't think of anymore right now...Might come back laugh.gif

sang i disagree on teh strathmore..

SIF u serve Salt n pepper squid on roast vedgies?? and REFUSE to serve it with chips.

THAT is bad servive in my mind.

part from that.. i didint mind the place.

windy point restuarant high class meals and service ratrher enjoyed dining their

as for local pub fare.. the Royal on Henley beach road mile end is not bad. i eat their regulary. and the staff ( well one of them atleast) is a lil cutie and very nice to chat to. always has good service to me and softy.

10$ a dozen for oysters kilpatrick on tuesday nights.. FTW!

worst, hrmm man places have been unsatisfied, including the ark for meals, ( tho it has also been good)

The Coopers Ale house, i found to be bad food. poor service cold oysters stale snitzel and a mild case of food poisoning when there ior one of our group.

DTN
Jasmins in town is a great Indian Resturaunt.
mich
agree with you there - also add to that the Tandoori Oven on Unley Road
I'm a fan of gaucho's too - even if you're not a steak eater!
Agree with Del re: the ale house - crap food and crap service
Fave Pub is definitely the Earl of Leicester... mmm num, num's!

DTN
Where's Gauchos?
mich
on gouger street - it's an argentinian restaurant. - great for 1 kg steaks if you're a bit of a Carnivore
DTN
Yeah, carnivore is me alright, I think I was gonna go there with the ex once but we decided it was a bit too expensive.

The asian resturaunt next door is pretty good.
mich
it is pricey but it's an excellent treat for yourself.

gouger street has lots of great little places to dine in that's for sure.

Anyone know of a good Thai place in the city/unley area we could try out???!!!
DTN
I rekcon that place next to the argentinean might be thai, but i'm not 100%
KittiChik
Jacks fish cafe at Glenelg was really nice biggrin.gif
mich
best pizza - la trattoria - also make yummy pizza bread. Tusmore pizza are up there too
Gabtron
H-Dan and I went to the Casino on Saturday to try out the seafood buffet at the Pullman. A little pricey @ $39.90 p/p but I still don't know if I liked it or not. Most of the food was really fancy but it tasted weird or was over/under cooked.

But they did have fantastic Oysters Kilpatrick and it gives you the opportunity to try all different kinds of fish.

All you can eat is always a bad idea imo but I keep going back cuz I like variety.

Re: Caffe Primo @ TTP.

It used to be the best Primo's but now it is by far the worst. I waited one hour and fifteen minutes for a Penne Gamberi (the only reason i still go there) and all my friends had already eaten their food so I had to get mine take away. The service is TERRIBLE. Dino's really let the place go which sucks because it used to be quality, ESPECIALLY for the price. Ever since they put the prices up and changed the steaks it's been sux and lame.

One of the hot bartenders, John (blue eyes, curly light brown hair), is opening a Primo's at Mawson Lakes.

Now I recommend Primo's @ Northpark which I went to for a Work Xmas Dinner. Service was great, everyone was friendly AND they did a mean Oysters Kilpatrick happy.gif

Each place has its own style of serving a meal. If it served everything as everywhere else it wouldnt stand out.

All I really recommend is the stone grills. I love cooking my own food biggrin.gif

Regent Thai is the main place I recommend. Its located near the Picadilly Cinemas on Oconnell St, North Adelaide. The owner (whom we at the casino affectionately call Mr T) is a great bloke. The service is beyond excellent as well as the food. Dont go on a night like Friday or Saturday night as you'll find you have to wait a little while for service as it gets packed.

yeah.. i didn't mean it like that.. i mean that i think it's rude these parents bring their youngsters to these 5 star restaurants and then let them run around.. i think they should bring some sort of activities for them to do, colouring in etc...

I've seen some very well behaved children at restaurants.. and some very bad.. it just depends on weather the parents or adults are doing their job and keeping the children away from other customers.

I don't think that the parents "job" is to "keep" their children away from other customers.

Just need to teach their children to behave appropriately.

Sorry Celeste, you know how offended I get by stuff like this, and I know you don't mean most of what you say the way it comes accross, so please think twice about how you word stuff! and I'll try not to take everything to heart wink.gif

Can i jut say if a parent brings their kids out in public and they missbehave in a respected restaurant, then it IS the parents duty to keep their kids at bay, sorry em, but it's the responsibility of the parent... if parents are not willing to handle or deal with the situation the kids put them in in a public place i don't think their kid should be braught to a place like that because a lot of people can and will get offended not only at the kids missbehavour but also in the lack of appropriate discipline from the parents... as a matter of fact it is quite disrespectful to do that! What if a man wanted the perfect evening to propose to his gf, he doesn't want some rotten spoilt kid running around ruining his whole night and changing the entire mood of the place... If i missbehaved in a public place like that with my parents when i was little, i was sent to the car... No questions... I agree with my punishment i got... Respect other people and those around you. the world doesn't only revolve around you! biggrin.gif

Went there on Tuesday night for dinner. Every Monday and Tuesday is $8.90 schnitzel night. $2 extra for parmie. These are pretty big and decent for the price, they cover pretty much cover the entire plate with chips underneath. AND you get all you can eat salad / veggie bar and they taste good too smile.gif

I'm not really a big fan of Indian. Used to always take clients to Tandoori Oven on Unley Rd, Hyde Park. Really recommended because of the food and service. Might seem a bit pricey but is worth it.

these might be off the scale a bit, but auge is great, which is on grote st. and bridgewater mill up in the hills is very, very good. also, i highly recommend martinhas, which is a student restaurant run at the douglas mawson city TAFE, great food, service and prices....and you're helping out the students! that's my two cents

Went there fri night. Not a bad funky little joint at all. The service was great and it was nice and clean and comfy! I had Field of mushrooms which was just superb and my lady friend had banquete style of a meal with lots of vegis and bread etc.. And we shared a bottle of wine. The way they done the meals where just awsume. I thought to myself before we ate that i doubt i will walk out of here full but tell you what i was satisfied. Was a great start of just a great night.

Cheers for the heads up mich wink.gif
