Next Anthemite Day Out (ado), Beach

Seeing the Beach Day thread having been bumped I thought hey why not get another Anthemite Day Out, (hereafter refered to as ADO.)

Clause 1, Part 1:
Location needs to be decided... This is to be decided via a Poll type voting system, Ballot does not however need to be kept secret... but if you choose Semaphore.. it would be adviseable to keep it to yourself


Clause 1 Part 1a Section 2:

Being that it is coming into the warmer months, a location with either surplus shade, water (preferably moreso then just a fountain... but ive had my fun swimming in those over the years, so i wont be picky...) or both...

In addition to this, If anyone Has Portable shades, and you are able to bring them, please tell me and I will Add equiptment to the bottom of this post as time goes on.. would be great to know what we have and what we will be having
-Also things like eskies, things to play with, etc.. Volleyball.. totem tennis.. its all up to what you want to bring

Food arrangements, last time was in a public eatery, granted its good food, but the atmosphere was somewhat public and calm, and others whom did not wish to eat just wated around elsewhere, this time it would be much better, to do it where others may enjoy the entire day too, so proposal for this one is...

(Both however do require by -SMP cheese act of 2006, ADO ver 1.1)

As mentioned below.. as for alcohol zones.. almost every beach along the western front is alcohol free, however places like Moana (my vote and favorite beach, as I can drive my car on it, have music, etc) I believe arent dry zones.. and if they are... *whistles*

As for BBQ facilities, I have a 2 or 3 burner hotplate BBQ i am able to bring, with gas, etc.. so dont worry too much about locations with BBQ setups. I prefer to use my own as they work alooot better, and i keep it clean

Just a heads up that saturday is schutzenfest

and your revised suggestion is? As i said i am unaware of dates of events at this time..

Proberlly wont attend just letting you no the that the schutzenfest is on that sat.

can't make it on the same weekend as schutzenfest!!!

I say late January early Feburary (i was hoping Ben will be back in time for this).

I completely agree with the bbq / picknic idea.. much more freedom.. especially with children as they will probably get restless in a cafe or eatery.

So we need:
nice beached area
lots of shade
bbq / picknic area

Ok.. bring on the suggestions!!

Although Brian has covered most of it,
we must remember alot of these beaches (particularly those in the Western suburbs) are alcohol free, i.e. you get fined if you are caught, about $200, OUCH.

But if it is at a beach near eating and drinking venues its generally ok...

Im uncertain about maslins, etc... and that beach i cant bloody remember its name atm, drive cars on the beach and all.. im pretty sure its not alcohol free.. as for BBQ areas, dont worry i have a BBQ i can take... no issue at all.. and its destined to be cleaner and ill provide gas, etc

i think that this would be great around the end of january.

the 13th of january is taken up by mine and robs birthday thingy...

Hmm... i don't know what is happening on this actual date but...

26th - Australia Day = Aust. vs Eng. ODI (cricket) & i do believe there is usually a rave on this day/night.
28th - Eng. vs NZ ODI (cricket)

does anyone know if there will be a rave on the 26th because if this is the case.. i doubt many ppl will attend due to "recovery"

last time i didnt have to change the date this often...

haha.. i know.. so much on! but it is a suggestion we can keep it on the 27th for now.. i'm not positive about this rave thing.

The last day was fun.. and I know this is during the big months of party season.. but thats because its summer.. so its pretty much finding a date with least possible amount of stuff on.. there will always be things conflicting during summer

February the 3rd (I believe) is the day after the BDO so I'd be in for a casual recovery beach bbq on that day for sure

Well, i guess my main concern is that i want to go with Ben.. he loves the beach and these type of social events and he's not going to be back until end of january so if we could make it later, 27/01 or 3/02 that would be really appreciated!

Dont know about my work roster that far ahead of time.. so I might be late to my own shindig... haha could always be a sunday if thats easier for more people

Cant wait to spend another day down the beach with Anthemites last one was enjoyable.. lets make this one the best one yet!!!!

If anyone has issues in regards to getting to the location (i.e transport.. please speak up dont feel left out.. many of us do drive and I for one are more then happy to help people out to get there

my grandparents have a house on the esplanade in noarlunga, next beach over from christies, christies is very dirty, only recomend surfers to go there.. but only if i owned my grandparents house its massive, if we knocked out all the walls we culd have a rave there it would be as big as all three rooms at earth! and the lounge area.. IF ONLY

uh maslins is a nude beach right? this is family frendly occasion... if the parents dont have a problem with that thats cool, i thawt id just point that out.. id love to go to maslins.. alone.. i wuldnt be taking my top off too quickly in front of half of anthems

i culd probly bring drinks.. i dnt have much to use, i cant make food and wuldnt know what type of meats to bring for a bbq.

Personally my preference is Moana.. its a clean beach... family friendly.. theres grassy parts up from the beach.. cars can go on beach too... for the beat crankin, etc

As for help.. it could come in the way of a portable shade... beach equiptment, stuff for kids to play with... cricket/volleyball.. you name it really..

Helpful things would be suggestions and the offering of equpitment (if you are offering equiptment please PLEase PLEASE ensure you come, as we will be relying on you)

I will endevour to supply all I can, but I'm certainly not of wealth...

As for the food situation.. The way our BBQ's generally go is everyone brings something, and we cook it all up and share (with the exception of those who dont eat red meat and bring fish or the like)

Salads are another good addition to a good old aussie BBQ...

Basically bring whatever you feel like to share around, always ends up being a great day when anthems and BBQs are combined

OK I HAVE 1 BEACH UMBRELLA BUCKETS AND SPADES MY CHILDREN R HAPPY TO SHARE A BEACH BALL AND ILL BRING STUFF FOR BBQ AN SALAD HOPE THIS HELPS

the only thing i can think of that might help is i have a tent, not a fancy beach one, just a normal camping 4 person tent, hehe we culd hide the drinks in there

anyone have buckets we can use for castles, or if we catch any sea creatures we culd keep em for a little while, then release them of course, thats always really kewl for kids, plastics cups and cuttlery are easy to get from any supermarket..
brian you dont have a voting poll for moana.. is there some way to edit the poll?

i have recently bought a 3mx3m sun shade thing ill happily bring this with me. and a few chairs if i can fit em.. or if anyone has room.

Moana is a good choice too, its a clean beach, there are not bad surf there on good days and the oposite end where the cars go is less surf so good for swiming little tackers etc. there are life guards there ans best of all it doesn't smell like someone's septic tank like some of the northern ones.

if we come (likely but no promises at this stage) we have a beach tent thingy - it's big enough for a small group or a stack of esky's to sit under in the shade...

I have Pm'd Lauren (Candy_Cat) to add Moana to the poll.. I am not a moderator so can't edit the poll... even on my own thread!!! (mod access would be handy for this but I'll just wait it out)

Also cant add to the equiptment list and cant close the poll/edit location when its all over... Not the best setup but hey...

Yeah it is close to home for me, but last time there was a beach day we went to semaphore beach. Thing is noone went in the water because it stank so much which is a shame really. So this time i voted for a beach where we can actually not contract a disease from the water and has the most varied attractions for everyone. Not everyone is a surfer and not everyone wants a flat beach for kiddies this beach has it all. Also close proximity to a shop, and life savers incase of needing medical attention etc.

heading south from Adelaide down Main South Road.

Continue through the suburbs of Reynella, Morphett Vale and Hackham.

After going past the Victor Harbor Road turnoff, turn right on Griffiths Drive, which is the next main road..

Continue on Griffiths Drive, through the intersection at Commerical Road and then down toward Nashwauk Crescent at the end.

Approach the roundabout at the end of Nashwauk Crescent and you will see Moana Beach Tourist Park immediately to your left.

I, typically got rostered to work this day even after asking and asking for time off (damn godden a*holes) however I said I'll be leaving work at 9:30am and that was my final arguement... wether or not i have a job next week is entirely their problem, havent got stress in my life atm, and not letting them mess up a day thats gonna go off!!!! :D:D

I'll be there round 11am, hopefully with the BBQ i still havent organised.. but ill get it im sure.. absolutely failing that there is BBQ facilities at the beach.
