Anthems Motorised Vehicle Cruise

There have been plenty of car cruises organised externally that anthems members have participated in .. but with sunshine and warm nights fast approaching I think we should have an anthems cruise - if all goes well I'll happily organise regular cruises too..

So first things first .. essentially any vehicle is "allowed" - so it's on for young and old, whether you're a bike, car or van owner

Second, who would be interested in doing this?

Third, what is a location that everyone likes?

So for now it would be great if replies could be limited to who is interested/not interested, and possible starting locations as well as destinations.

We'll figure out times, dates, seating arrangements and so forth later on when we've got the basics worked out

i have a few old "cruise maps" from pervious car cruises from other clubs etc. so ill russle them up...

ill be in for it... both in the RX-7 and on the motor bike!

OK as if i need to but.....* Puts hand up for cruze fun* i'm up for this for sure. My bike will be ready in the next week i recon possibly by thurs. this will be a lot of fun this summer i can feel it.
As for meet up spots well E.T.S.A stadium carpark is usually a good place close to town and out of prying eyes view so we won't get hassled by " the fuzz" cruze roads which are wicked are upper greenhill rd and back through to harndorf for maybe a drink's and chin wag spot. then we could head to strath and possibly end in to victor harbor for something to eat. Thats a wiked day cruze. Should ask i guess is this a day or a night thing i persoanlly think day would be better.

Im used to going on long cruises lasting 9pm till 4am.. so yea... we go all over the joint, up thru mount lofty, up to south gate plaza, down to west beach, out to TTP, down to St Kilda Playground... and then the last trek for those who join in is down to Lower Light, for burn outs (if you feel like wasting rubber)

I am good with any destination really. As long as it doesn't coincide with rally weekends..!

I just think if we do a day time one, on something like a sunday. Then we can stop somewhere for lunch and a chin wag and then finish back in town or some where. Could go to places like Murray Bridge, Victor Harbour, Berri etc.

hmmm if this is in october some time i will have access to the lil red convertible MGA!!! not so much a drag cart, but very fun to drive.. as long as the day doesnt get too hot... it boils faster than a can of water in a furnace.

I say it's worth coming out even if you have a damn Flintstones car. We're not going to be racing .. well at least not all of us are; that's the idea behind a cruise. Come along, it'll give you a chance to meet the anthemites you've not yet met!

haha nar maybe not ill be taking the celica keen as to bash her thro the hills, only once been thro the hills with her and i was stuck behind 3 cars that were taking it easy... and i had to follow them cause i didnt know where to go :/ ill tell you i spend 80% of the time doing about 20 untill i couldnt see them and the rest of the time as fast as i could with out running up their asses

Seeing as BOOSTING has given pretty much the only detailed suggestion for now .. sometime this weekend or next weekend he and I will be doing a dry run to see how long it takes, and work out the finer details.

Results will be posted here and then we can all say yes or no

The Bluebird wouldnt start this morn, so i rang the RAA this arvo and he came and replaced a few minor parts (cost me $8) and now its running sweeter than what it was originally - So stoked!

Sounds like a good result for $8, mate.

Paul and I were both busy this weekend, and the left side of my bike is missing some vital components since the stack, so we weren't able to do a dry run of the possible cruise path.

Next weekend is more than likely the time we'll do it - or even sometime late next week.

In case anyone is waiting for this to happen: it was too difficult to organise a day/time/route that suited everyone, so it was post-poned.

Now I don't have time to organise it due to work.

yea, i thought id get the ball rolling, dont know bout destinations/starts, a mix of city and hills cruising is always good, seems popular destinations are: bay, parts of town, lofty, windy point etc, well those are a few i know of quite well. got any others?

A good idea might be to have a few big stops on the way to pick up other ppl.. instead of making them drive to the other side of the city.

If this were organised soon i'd chuck some rego on the R1 and bring er out for some cruze mayhem hehe. Would have to be soon though before the rain sets in.

since selling the RX-7 id be reduced to auto transport in the Liberty... or the GPX.. so im still keen to take the bike out if its on!

the multiple stops idea is great, that way u can leave and join when u want. keep the ideas flowing

A good place to start would be ETSA park, near Santos Stadium. That car park is huge and usually quite empty... Lots and lots of cars will fit there no probs

yes, definitely the hills, ha ha although since im already up in the hills have to cruise down to etsa park too. but that is a good starting point pretty central to everybody i guess. should have a few stop off points on the way too to let the slower ppl catch up (if we have any slow ppl )

How bout meet at TTP and go up NE road and down lobethal then to the Princess Freeway, back to the city, then along cross road, possibly go to the bay, then split? Thats a good route i think!

And stopping by lobethal, we could get some of the Awesome german bakery delights!!! Best in SA i swear!

lobethal is good, and another suggestion it should be a evening/night cruise, they are so much more fun . and maybe have a few set stopping points along the way, let the slower ppl (if there is such a thing ) catch up and have some more socializing on the way.

hmm and maybee somebody should rig up some super powerfull ipod fm transmitter so can crank the same beats in all the cars

you need to start it from a more central locatiuon not one that just favors the people living near TTP. the city is the most central. Cruzes i have done in the past with the nissan exa club have gone from the etsa park stadium car park. Then a cruze down the bay through the bay up along anzacks up onto cross rd head up the freeway get off at the eagle on the hill exit head up the old section of free way really tight smooth road. Lots of corners there, meet up the top carpark/ look out for photo's and chit chat. Back out onto the freeway, head up to crafers and head up to the mt lofty summit carpark for a look off the look out and another chin wag
then back down old greenhill rd to the city or bay again where we can all meet at maccas or some mutually agreed upon food place. thats usually how they were roughly organised althogh thats a simple one good easy start off point.

i only suggested a cruise seein as not much else was being offered! Altho i love the good lobethal cruises!

if we're heading into the eastern/outheastern hills then somewhere near greenhill avenue would be better... if we wann head northernish hills then ttp isn't that bad seeing as the cruise goes that way anyway!

Keep suggestions flowing, and we'll come to a conclusion!

that sounds like fun! i alway's love heading down to the bay! and Eagle on the Hill.. can't even remember the last time i was up there.

I think we should steer clear of TTP and surrounding areas, Holden Hill cops around the area... We might just be looking for trouble

yes, steer clear of north and southern suburbs, too many coppers. so maybee start as boosting said, at etsa park or freedom on west terrace, head to the bay then back up to the hills up freeway up old freeway to eagle, unfortunatly there aint much of a car park there thesedays theve blocked it off because of all the burnouts done there all the time, then head up to loft car park, wait for the stragglers, then go down summit rd (damn good rd that is) to greenhill rd then maybee head up to lobethal from there, then come back and down green hill and cruise back to somewhere else. give a good mixture of both sorts of driving, city and hills, and a fair number of stopping points to let everybody catch up and have a talk and get back onto the cruise again.

Well.. i think the 19-20th is a bit to close now and seeing as no organisation has been done then i think the curise is cancelled until furhter notice (just like happened last time).

I think Jutsin was organising this.. but obviously, like this one, it never got off the ground.. i think it was mainly all just thread talk instead of anyone actually physically organising anything.

We were attempting to organise something, but schedules didn't permit a weekend for everyone to get together, and we couldn't agree on a route.

Like I said before I no longer have time to organise it, as my efforts are spent elsewhere (where I'm being paid for it, basically )..

I say just pick a route that starts from a central location, and pick a weekend and see who can/can't make it .. any more than 4-5 car loads is a success, in my opinion.

I can do basically any weekend except Saturday the 2nd.

I'd love for it to be on a weekend with sunny forecasts so I can take the bike, but I realise this is a bit too optimistic of me, and I'll just sus it out once everything is set.

well any weekends pretty much a-ok with me. and as for locations central down town as justin said and a mixture of cruising types, like some hills and some city cruising. so maybee etsa park, or freedom carpark for a start, lofty summit as a stop off point, and lobethal as a halfway mark and then cruise back another way, to town again or the bay.

yea, cruse from the bay to the hills and back maybe, could leave from say coles car park in glenelg down around glenelg then up anzac highway, depending if its night or not along hindley street, then back to greenhill rd through the city part of greenhill rd then up to the top, now depending on how long u want the cruise to go for u can turn left onto summit rd and head to lofty summit, or can continue along greenhill rd for a bit longer then left turn onto woods hill rd then across across the woods hill rd and ridge rd T intersection then again across the tregethan and woods hill rd intersection onto stony rise rd, then after that rd right at the lobethal rd cross intersection then all the way to the intersection of the lobethal rd and deviation rd now the cruise can either continue on to lobethal, or turn back and go along deviation rd then along range view, then along Bridgewater careygully rd to Bridgewater. from there we can either go to mt lofty again, and then back down green hill or we can go straight down the freeway although via the old freeway and cruise back to town or the bay etc. lol. thats one way ive done a cruise with some racers and hills boys up here in the hills and it was a good drive, some easy city cruising and some spirited hills driving all in the one cruise. see what u think? plenty of scope for modification.

basicaly it goes like this, freedom carpark, or etsa park?????? then into town then along greenhill rd from city, right up into hills till we reach mt lofty summit rd then turning right up to lofty summit for a checkpoint/meet point. then cruise back down summit and resume the drive along greenhill rd for a short bit, then left down woods hill rd, then at the cross intersection straight ahead onto stony rise rd then right onto lobethal rd till deviation rd then left at the end of the rd onto green hill rd again then down range view Dr and from there left down Bridgewater carey gully rd, into bridgewater then left onto strathalbyn rd till milor for the next checkpoint/meetpoint. then from there along stock rd then right at longwood rd till the intersection with scot creek rd then along that rd till the end then right onto morgon rd then left at ironbank rd then continue along that rd till upper sturt rd then right back to crafers, for another meet point, then down the freeway to the eagle on the hill exit and then down there, then from the end of the freeway continue down cross rd till anzac and then down to glenelg.

sound alright ? if not suggest changes/additions

ha ha yes yes, it does say motorized vehicle cruise, if it however didn't say motorized u could probably add, bicycles and horses to the list of allowed vehicles although that could cause some slight problems. so yea motorbikes are on the list though don't leave us poor 4 wheelers behind too much ha ha.

yes cruise is still on, now that ive finished exam ill write up the list of rds etc etc. and damn too bad u cant come lol although the performance regrind will be worth it. where u getting that done? because ill be needing one soon.

I don't think I would be in any fit state to ride a motorbike even if it were a day after anyway.

There will be a whole bunch of cars in one area and people congregating... U shouldn't miss it

Ill be handing out maps, when I know which car I'll be driving I'll give u a description so u can easily spot me

But .. stuff happened and my car is not feeling well... wheel bearing.. too many burnouts.. so on.. so fourth.

As I said originally it depended on the mans car and well he still doesnt have it back

im sorry i didnt turn up, even though i helped organise it. went to ultaworld, and car got locked in carpark on rundle street and i wasnt gonna pay the $55 to get it out. so didnt get home till 9 by the time we broke into and out of the car park. so was very very sleepy.

bullshite i tell u complete bullshite, never park in u parks again stage a protest.

so yea thats why i couldnt bloody well turn up very annoyed.

lol will have to organise another one and give it more time to get it all happening

I got there at 1.15 - 1.20 running late and no one was there! i don't have access to the net on the weekends, so i couldn't check the net for any details, and i didn't have anyones phone number, which was also a bit stupid!

Well, i was there and i'm still interested on going on another one!
