Looking For A Car

Hey people, I'm out on the look for a new car!
I'm cheap and only have $2000 and i need something preferably this weekend.

No holdens or fords (just not a fan of either) and I'd rather not get a skyline or pintara. Something thats not too ugly, has some potential to be done up later on down the track and is affordable as far as getting parts and petrol efficiency is concerned.
Umm... Was thinking maybe a civic or something along those lines.

Another thing to take into consideration is that im 6'1, so small cars are out of the question.

(Oh, forgot, I'd prefer an auto as I've had little manual driving experience, but a manual is alright too, I got to learn sometime!)

I didn't want to sell it for about 9 weeks... but if you put up an offer I'll think about it doing it for this weekend.

I get 350km per tank which is about 30-35L

Auto? Mannual? How much do you get out of a tank? etc etc. I'm looking at getting a car in the very near future and this caught my eye.

a cheap car

nissan exa turbo, 1984 or 1985, cant remember. good rubber all round, 5 speed manual, 10 seconds 0 - 100. pretty new altinator. serviced but i dont have proof cus its not something i keep although i probably should. nice looking car but it does have some rust around the place. black and grey interior. standard motor apart from pod air filter, gets between 500 - 550 on the highway. runs on premium.

yeah but a TP magna? a tank of fuel be worth mor ethan them things.

some of the cheaper cars around work out more expencive in the long run.. just keep that in mind.

Paul... if your not looking at selling for another 9 weeks... I'd be keen hey. I'm starting to think my little baby isn't worth fixing, and it'd take me about the same amount of time to save up enough cash to buy a car...

I have a white 1983 Ford Laser for sell cheap!
Its all in good order.. few typical rust bits and small dents.
Only problem is the gearbox has gone (another gearbox can be bought for $120 from U-Pull-it, and i can help u replace it)

It comes with two anthems.com.au stickers.. BIGGER THAN THE USALL ONES, almost twice the size.. and an Smiley face on the dash

I'm happy with $100 for it

Cheap little run about for someone who knows how to replace the gearbox.

My mum needs a car

She has a blue Laser ATM and loves it to bits so wants something similar but her's is falling apart... just like her!!!

She's only got about $2000 and isn't in a huge rush, just needs something reliable, runs well and doesn't cost too much in petrol. No fancy extras needed... she wouldn't know what to do with central locking, power steering or a stereo anyway!!!

PM me if you think you can help out... I might be calling on one or two of you car heads to help us in the search if we can't find anything here and she has to car yard it... like mother like daughter.. we're clueless when it comes to cars!

Just like mine justin but better looking in the paint department. Quite easy to be done up and made go fast enough to blits 5l V8's quite easily. with a few careful and cheap mods just under 100kw at the wheels is quite achievable. Thats good out of an early 80's 1.5L motor.

As much as magnas are a nice car to drive... they fall apart... lots. Opps, there goes my right and left front whee... and my headlight... and tail light... and my windscreen wipers... and my windscreen.

Thanks heaps folks, but I've found a few others around the place.
I reassessed and im really only willing to pay about $1200, so I'll jsut get a bomb to last me a couple of months (anything over 6 is a bonus) and use that time to save.

I've had some of my most memorable and FUN moments in some of the cheaper cars i have ever bought. I got one for 50 bux once it ran fine abd everything was just out of rego abd it did the best donuts after we welded the diff solid lmao

I got my VL for $200 and had to get the winscreen fixed and rego on it. You can find something good if you no where to look

Okay... Well... Boy! Have I got a story to tell!
I got a car, it lasted 4 hours, now its dead.

Umm... I can't be fucked going into detail, but yeah, so i wasted $800 basically.

So now, I'm looking again. I need a car thats gonna last me for a little while for as cheap as possible. I'm not fussy as to what it is.

can it be fixed, whats wrong with it??, there is a few of us on here that r mechanics, and allways willing to help other anthemites

The corona wouldnt be worth fixing to be honest i dont think -
But my old camry (88 or 89 (cant remember) V6 camry) - needs a piston replaced and a new head and shite. I think thats the only prob.

Basically it needs an engine rebuild.

If anyone is interested in taking the corona in trade for labour and some parts (i assume ill have to pay more than the corona is worth) then get back to me.

If the exa was $600 id buy it, lol, but its not and i dont have any money left now.
