Well recently I've been going back to my musical roots. Thinking back at some of the first albums I have ever purchaced. One of them being Experience by The Prodigy. This is one of my most favorite ever albums (alongside The White Album by The Beatles).

So here it is The Prodigy - Experience

  3. "Wind It Up" (Liam Howlett) – 4:33
  4. "Your Love [Remix]" (Liam Howlett) – 5:30
  5. "Hyperspeed [G-Force Part 2]" (Liam Howlett) – 5:16

  12. "Death of the Prodigy Dancers [live]" (Liam Howlett) – 3:43
This album was released on 28 September 1992, almost 14 years ago. Back then most the people of the world didnt even know there was a musical gerne called "dance" or "rave". For 14 years it would be hard to go to a hard dance rave with out hearing a track from this album.

Tracks like Wind it up, Everybody in the place, Out of space are solidly cemented as rave anthems. anyone who has been in the rave scene or even the dance scene would know these tracks if not by name, but just by hearing it.
True ravers would also remember Your Love, Jerico and Ruff in the Jungle Bizness just to name a few. every track is instantly recognisable. Even the chilled out Weather Experience.

Many people who listen to these tracks would never beleive they were produced in 1992. 14 years on and they still sounds as fresh as they did in the seedy little warehouses of UK in the early 90s

So my question is:
Is this album ahead of its time? Was Liam a being of the future, sent back in time to introduce the world to rave music? Or am i just obsessed smile.gif

Discuss!

It boggles you how awesome tracks like these get produced 14 years back, compared to some of the shit these days not even worth 1 cent paying for.

I don't think this album, was ahead of its time, but rather I'd say its timeless.....this is one of the most iconic dance music albums from our generation though, and anyone who was around 'in the scene' at this time is more than familiar with it.

I am still kicking myself when, a few years ago, I had the chance to buy it on vinyl, but didn't.... dry.gif I'l just have to be satisfied now with my copies of Fire/Jericho and Everybody in the Place that I have on vinyl now tongue.gif

My thoughts exactly.

This was also the first Prodigy album I bought, it's always gotten two thumbs up from me.

Me too!! Just that bit of break-beat at the start of "Charlie" is enough to hype me up and send me back into a reminiscing frenzy!! laugh.gif I love this album sooooooooo much - for me it just epitomises all that was good and innovative about the electronic music genre - something that's lacking a bit of late sadly... sad.gif

It's a good CD... about being ahead of it's time i'm not sure... i've heard some killer trax from the 89/90 mark that are better than a lot of the prodigy... But i love the prodigy and i love that album... i think there was just as good music made by other unknown artist, just that prodigy capitolised on it.

tho i would have to say that this is the ablum that got me into the dance muisc, and "out of space" was the first song of the cd i heard that got me hooked, back in the days sitting on the bus going to a from school, i recon is was 1993, my first few yrs of high school.
after that i was hooked on the music and wanted more!!!!!!

The Prodigy
the music they produced was consistently the best music of it's time, noone else was able to do what they did as good as they did it for as long as they did.

name a track that was anything like breathe....

Prodigy, it was the next step forward but they did it with a leap

Yes definately is an awesome album. But i agree, I dont think it was ahead of its time but timeless....
I remember raving back in the days of the 'Continous Flow' movement and this album having tracks from it featured heavily. Which is probably why it is still so well regarded!!
