Raver Friendly Movie Night -

Just been chatting to SaltonSea and Muncher, and I was thinking about a raver styled movie night. There does seem to be a common drug theme amongst all movies mentioned so far, I won't hide that fact, but that doesn't make them any less of a movie.

I have no idea yet how we will do this yet, but I would love to screen a whole heap of movies for you all one night. For now, lets just throw some movie titles into the circle for disucssion, and maybe let us know if you have a copy

Groove. Great Movie!
One Perfect Day is one of my faves at the moment.
Requiem for a dream... thats one movie you don't want to watch within 3-4 days of having stuff!!!! It snasty... but a good flick.
I really like Blow, its awesome.
Another is spun, didn't really like it that much... sketchy as.

But, the most raver friendly movie I know that has absolutely nothing to do with raving or substances...
Finding Nemo!! ...Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...

speaking of movies to watch when sketchy..... has anyone watched Being John Malkovich. First time we saw it late on a sunday night after being up for 3 days, a few people nearly lost their shit and had to leave half way through

The movie spends a lot of time with a bunch of meth heads and their week long benders, but that is not what it's about...and there is the twist. Also look out for Law & Order Criminal Intent star.....definately recommend this flick, but I never saw it advertised in the cinema, and I don't know if it's on vid. It was given to me on DivX

If we have a movie night, I'll definately watch it with you all again

Dude, I saw vanilla sky well before I starting raving and taking stuff, and I even then I sat in front of a blank screen at the end for fifteen minutes saying to myself

That wasn't a twist, it was a writers way of finishing a movie he'd run out of ideas for!

The original idea was to have a movie night in my little cinema for the team.anthems crew, but this is getting bigger than the 12 I can comfortably seat. Finding a venue might provide a challenge.....anyone?

The Mercury Venue has two cinemas (The Mercury - seats 186,
The Iris - seats 40)

maybe thats an option too

I reckon do it on a Saturday/Sunday, make it a marathon, that way some will come just for the movies they want to see, some may stay the whole time...

Most kids movies these days have more adult humour in them than kids humour.

A movie night is sounding like a Stomper idea! I'd be up for that!

And watching Fear and Loathing scattered is definately an experience!!!

As for cartoon style movies, I'd have to say you can't go past Shrek and Shrek 2!!

See Spun thats a good meth junkie movie. Or even rules of attraction. Know that was a screwed up movie or was it because i was watching it on a paper......

One of my all time classics that always make me laugh Freddy got fingered!!!

Go - American raver movie, I hated it the first time (probably because it came out straight after Human Traffic - THERE IS NO COMPARISON!!!) but kinda liked it the second time.

Donnie Darko - good suggestions, but it IS dark!

Requiem for a Dream - not unless you want to be depressed for several weeks afterwards....

Spun - is that the one with Mickey Rourke as the Chef and Mena Suvari? That was quite amusing

Being John Malkovich is an awesome film, would love to see it again

How about The Dark Crystal or Meet the Feebles???

actualy reslly liked it..
very sad - few tears banked up - recommended viewing but isnt fun or light hearted in comparison to human traffic etc...

when i was in sydney i went to cinema in the park, where they played fear and loathing.

there were fly swatters everywhere, and lots of people dressed up.

Afterwards everyone went out. (we can't stop here, this is bat country!)

I'm only new here, but if i can suggest combining it with an outing after the show.....it was one of the most fun nights i've ever had!
