Some TV ads at the moment have me doubled over with laughter and others just plain shit me!
The ones that shit me.....
The anti drug ads! The one on a few minutes ago was the "Speed, think what might happen" I'm not attacking the govt in what it's trying to do, but the delivery is so poor. How about Speed, think about what MIGHT happen versus alchohol and cigarettes and what WILL happen. How about Going for a drive on our roads, think about what might happen.....Playing sport, think about what might happen.
People take risks every day, so asking them not to take a risk, while all the time selling taxable grog and ciggies that we know for sure are doing you damage, it's not just hypocritical, but allmost childlike in mentality.
I hope two things happen. In this day and age where you take legal action against the council for you tripping on a crack in the footpath, someone to seek damages from the government when they contract lung cancer from smoking, or their wife leaving them for being an abusive drunk. The govt not only allows the sale of these products, but profits from them. Why only take the manufacturers to court, the government gave them the go ahead to sell the stuff, so the govt need to be held accountable too.
Secondly, I hope the parents of a child that dies from taking a drug they thought was ecstacy (and was actually PMA or similar), take legal action against the government too. MDMA and similar party drugs should be legalised and controlled by the government. There are more proven negative side effects for alchohol and ciggies than there are for MDMA, so why force this drug to the black market where it becomes far more dangerous. How about some consistency!
Old fuddy duddies with no concept of what's up...grrrr
