my car is real slow.. whats wrong with it? is it because its a lancer? I think it is biggrin.gif

anyway, heat spots on disc brakes.. whats the usual cause of that? I have upgraded my lancer's brakes to GSR/M21 Satria brakes all round and have shudder from them now, think its heat spots as it only happens when the brakes heat up.. any ideas?

letmeteachyou, a simple answer to this: Get in your car, drive to Ultratune Prospect, hand the keys to Kevin and return later that afternoon.. 20" spinners are on the cards too tongue.gif
slider
thats right, hand the keys to kevin@ ultratune so he can change your oil filter so the person who buys the motor things its a brand new recon.
rip said motor out, fly to SECRET Tuning in japan and ask for one of their 2J`s, with twin T66`s, last i heard they were up around the 880kw mark..
take springs out, purchase some gold volk 19`s and ur set..

yeah, the EBCs are prob what caused the heat spots.. I did push it hard on occassions until it then started to fade, which is why I upgraded to stop fading, didn't work mad.gif wasn't hard to cause it to fade, just a couple of late braking at posted speeds and it started to go weird.. ohmy.gif

What colour is it?

If you have any thought of taking your Rav4 off road, my advice is to check out the range of 4x4 products at ARB or Tuff-Stuff. I personally like the look of a small, tuff little ATV.

Tint the windows as black as u legally can and have all the badges removed.

Oldskoolier
Can anyone help me out.... Im looking for a good window tinter.

Do i go for a mobile dood who may be cheaper and have less overheads but still do a good job?
Or do i go for a franchise like Tint-a-Car?

In any case, i want a good job done with a guarantee.

The best quote i have had so far is $200 for the whole car (Impreza), using a film one step down from the soopa doopa formula 1 3M brand tint.

Do you know of anyone?

If its black, then your way ahead already. Get some wide 4x4 wheels and tyres, and some blue neons for the front and sides perhaps. And you could always do with a couple of nice comfortable sparco/recaro reclining racing seats.

window tinting is a hit and miss affair these days... some cheap places use cheap film which change colour after a few years.. on my lancer, I have the best I could buy at tint-a-car at the time, has 25 yr waranty and hasn't faded since I got it, over 4 yrs ago. just remember, your not really keeping the car for a lifetime are you? they break and crash etc.. also, just make sure you see exactly what the warranty covers, thats another trap. in the end you have to be happy with it and so far tint-a-car at lonsdale have done good by me..
Ian Hard
there is a place called Ming.. thats wat we use at my work when people want tint.. Not sure the price though.. But there pretty good there..
joker4
i got mine from tint a car, dont through my old work stillwell, some place we got all a new cars done at, had mine on 4 bout 3yrs, still ok, apart from the scatch i have got, dont know where i got it form thou mad.gif
Oldskoolie
I got them done. City tint centre, Angas St. $275 for the soopa doopa tint, lifetime warranty. Whoo Hoo!
fo_sho_man
thats a good price Oldskoolie, some place near castle plaze wanted that price to do a ute (mind you she didn't know what an XF ute was hmmmm)

The best Australian method is to re shape a coat hanger into your favourite animal shape and ust that instead. that way if you ver lock your keys in your car, you dont have to go searching for some wire to get them out.

In all seriousness, it wont cost you much unless you are driving a late model mercedes, maserati, or aston martin

why does my battery light keep flickering??? i think its from when they put my immobliser in last week! how do i fix it??
Oldskoolie
Perhaps you should take it back to where it was fitted. It sounds like a dodgy installation that may cause problems later on. Esspecially if its shorting out. But it could also be coincidence, and your alternator is gammy. Good luck!
DeL
sounds like a bad earth. id say when installing the imobiliser they have stuffed it up a bit... definitly take it back to them

Cant get spark from my coil. Just bought a brand new coil and resistor thingy. Forgot where the wires go. I think on from negative goes to the dizzy, but forgot about the other ones.
Can i just run 12V straight to the coil thru the resistor? or will that cause more issues.

Thankyou

Wow!! i didn't think it would be that expensive!! i'm sure that is way cheaper then the dealership, but i guess i just wasn't expecting to pay that much (seeing as i know nothing about cars) !! i think it may have to wait a while now... still broke from the engine rebuild.

I can get most car suspension parts at wholesale price. So if you let me know what year and model your car is, I can get a price on the springs for you..

Then all you have to do is get them fitted...

1998/99 Toyota Celica SX-R (one of the last of that model to come off the line before the new ones were brought in).

I will chase up my mate later today for you and see if I can a price on the springs for you..
KandiRaver
aw, thank you so much!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
scattered
My mate just got back to me and they will cost you $110. for a pair. So it would be $220 for the full set of fronts and rears. These are also "King Springs" which are a good quality springs.

He has the fronts in stock, but would have to get the rears in which would be an extra $15 if you wanted them urgently, which would take approx 5 days from qld. Otherwise he could add them to his next stock order which would be in around late January.

Let me know if you want anymore details or prices...

thanks for finding that out for me... i think i might wait until the new year and see how my finances are then. i dont have much put away and my insurance is due in another 4 months (gotta save for that!)
scattered
well just let me know if you want me to organise these for you...

Even if its not til next year sometime. I can usually get most suspension parts cheaper than trade.

KandiRaver
thanx.. i wanna run over to you and give you a big hug!! i think about it after xmas (and the january sales!... lol, i'm such a girl!)
fo_sho_man
the other option is to get your springs reset at a suspension place, might be around $50 for the front and $50 for the back, you'd need to call them, then there is the labour charge to remove and reinstall them..
scattered
yeah that can be done, but sometimes if you lower standard springs this way, they can bind up. Causing a down turn in comfort ride and handling.

KandiRaver
My sister's old car was factory lowered and it was the WORST ride... we were pretty low but we were bouncing around everwhere... I just don't want that in my car.

leave it as is then.. when you lower a car, you *should* upgrade your shocks, and if done right, this can be smooth or can be bumpy, depending on a lot of factors.. if you want your car to stay smooth, don't modify it..
joker4
well u cant have it both ways, unless u spend $$, to get the springs, shocker, swaybar, bushes, top shakels, and get the right package depending on what kinda ride u want

laugh.gif thats the way.. my ute on 17's is smoother than my lancer on 16's, both lowered, just the lancer has more suspension mods too.. the ute bottoms out alot easier tho huh.gif
KandiRaver
huh?? what does that mean... "bottoms out alot easier"?
fo_sho_man
means that the car hits the bump stops, what protects your suspension/car from destroying itself when it goes over big bumps..
KandiRaver
ahh.. ok. thanks. smile.gif
BOOSTING
Thought i'd start a thread on helping people fix their cars or not getting ripped off by dodgy mechanics. Anything from a basic service to engine rebuild advice. I know a few hints and tips that my help people and there are plenty of other car nuts on here with lots of know how as well. I worked for a mechanic for a few years as well as rising sun imports have rebuilt motors of all types shapes and sizes, performance mods, rebuilt whole cars, etc.
So if your car is doing the cluter clutter bang bang we may know why and be able to help. biggrin.gif
mich
get joker in here too... he helped me out not long ago and man am I grateful.. no more squelling car!

Fix my exhaust mich? tongue.gif

Nah got mine done recently at Midas, pretty good pricing there. Gotta get my car serviced every 3 months for the warranty which is good, had a blown radiator a while back and got quoted $400 at a mechanics accross the road but $300 was covered on the warranty so only had to pay $100! biggrin.gif
BOOSTING
biggrin.gif Wicked this thread can also be used to list good workshops also so we can help out our fellow motoring anthemites. Yeah i'm counting on joker and some of the other fellow petrol heads to use their knowledge to help people out. Joker just ordered me an exteme clutch for my car same day servise too, fitted it sat am its wild. Thanks joker. biggrin.gif

Sounds like Scott should just ditch the sigma and start look for another beast to get around in. I picked up my VL for $200 and a bottle. You just have to no who to talk to.

C/V joint needs replacing if its clicking depending on make and model a new shaft with 2 new joints is around the 200 dollar mark fitted by cv driveshaft services in lonsdale.

Well the mechanic wrote on Scotts little piece of paper that the sigma engine is 'fucked & is going to blow up'- can you fix that smarty pants?

Gee a knackered sigma motor thats not very common laugh.gif but seriously if he needs a nother motor do a ring around wreckers or in the trading post would be cheaper to fit another 2nd hand motor and gearbox then to buy another car and maybe have the same troubble over again. If he needs a hand to fit it sing out will only take about 4 or 5 hours roughly.

seriously though i need some help with my timing chain (magna)and i have some other problems but i dont know what they are.....

Magna's are famous for timing chain replacements especially in the 4 cyl 2.6l motors not real expensive for the chains them selves just a little labor intensive are you planning on doing this yourself?

no i was hoping for some help actually...

all that stuff on the new motors scares me a bit. give me a 4 cyl mazda and id be fine.biggrin.gif

buy the reliable yellow safty car! you know you want it lady k!...its yellow! laugh.gif

its not an easy job as the front cover has to come off the motor rocker cover off, front engine mount off as its an east west motor you will have to support the motor but if you really want to tackle it your self it will be a full day's job just about. Also the chain guides may also need to be replaced since the chains have obviously streched the giudes may be worn out too. If you need a hand you have my number if i'm free i'l lend a hand. biggrin.gif

which is the best way to go?

i currently have 15" rims and i want to increase to 17".
should i get the rims first or lower the car?
joker4r
i would say get the rims first, then u will know how far 2 lower it, so it wont scrap on the guards

but if u want to keep at all leagal, keep im mind then that u r only aloud to go up 2 sizes on the rim size from starndard
absent1r
unless you wish to pay an engineer like my mate did. mmm 19's on a AB cordia smile.gif
fo_sho_manr
yeah, can only go 2 inches bigger in rim size and 1 inch wider..

they are cracking down on lowered cars (apparently) - get mags first, then lower it, but get it done within the week of buying the wheels, please..
BOOSTINGr
Also to remember may be worthwhile to ring regency and get the legal lowering limit from them. This will be a measurement from the centre of the front stub axel up to the middle of the wheel arch. Its handy to have as you don't want your nice new tyre and wheel pakage with lowered springs to come with a nice yellow sticker for the front window.

This week its lowered cars, next week turbos, week after mag wheels, week after imports, week after blow off valves etc... Always something to pick on!!!

You would think that there is no crime in Adelaide, so the police have to find something to do!!!!
fo_sho_manr
hahaha true true Leon..

like your "legal" method.. know people to have done it..

but Leon has a good point, if your model car had a model which was identical in shape but was optioned with bigger rims, you can take those rims as being the size you have and then go 2 inch bigger from them.. check with your insurance company about the wheels too as some don't want to know you once you have made that mod..

Usually I can hook up cheaper deal for people regarding wheels etc. Go to Jack Baker Tyrepower in the city and speak to Troy. Tell him Ben with the yellow Silvia sent you.

Legal is weak......you'll get pulled over for other things anyway.....may as well make it worth while. The front end of my car alone is 150mm wider than it can be legally....but it's how I like it and how it's going to stay.

NissanSilvia.com is a good website in the 'Sponsors - For Sale' section for bargains wheels etc. They all fight over business so you'll get stuff from there cheaper than most places.

got a slight problem with my stearing.
everytime i go through water, my stearing locks up for a bit. mad.gif
its a front wheel drive with power steering. i dont think the water is splashing up far, so thinking it could be something to do with the sleeving covers around the joints. ( i really have no idea actually. no a mechanically minded person huh.gif )
KandiRaver
I'm definatly not mechanically minded either, but are you sure it just not because your tires are losing grip with the road that your locking up?? i know this happens to me sometimes when i go through deep puddles.

but i have no idea just thought i'd thow that out there! laugh.gif
Skimmer333
lol. thought that too, maybe something with the suspension too.
the tires are relatively new, still in great nick. and im only going slow, like 10k's when it happens.

to give a bit more of a description of the issue:

i'll be traveling around 10k's an hour (entering a car park), and there is usually a puddle at the entrance. i go through the puddle and a few seconds later, the steering locks up. it has some play in it, but it refuses to turn past a certain point, but then around 10 secs later it clears up, but the steering feels a bit rough.

the more i think about it, the steering joints to the wheels is probly getting crap in them.
joker4
hey skimmer, its what u call the rack boots, by the sounds of it they r torn, and splashing the water in the rack arm, lets just u can just replace the boots, and hope u havent done any further damage

This could also be due to worn power steer belt and it slipping when going through water. It would feel like when you have the ongine turned off and try to turn the wheel really difficult. Fit a new belt.

Im thinking of an engien conversion in my 88 V6 camry to a 3sgte...
What are peoples thoughts, and would anyone be willing to give me some major help and some lessons in the process?
Id like to do it myself, but have no idea how, so if someone is willing to teach me a few things, id like to work on with some people.

This Camry is going to be the car i do up jsut for the sake of the things...
So Im going for the 3sgte, itll be a very long term project as I'll need to do some serious saving, but if someone just willing to give a days work and tutoring every now and then, then awesome.

Once the engine conversion is done, I'd also like to give it a paint job, black with a simple logo somewhere because eventually, I'd like to have a few cars all with same paint job.
And get the interior fitted with wood grain. The image I'm going for is a done up beamer.
Its the "luxury" model Camry, so its already got the electric sunroof, mirrors, windows, immobiliser. I figure it jsut needs a good refurnishing!

I'll also need to convert it to manual. Get a body kit which will most likely have to be custom made. Some other stuff to make it look hot and sporty!

I know this is all a HUGE amount if work, I don't expect to have it done any sooner than 2 years from now, but yeah, if people are iwilling to help out, then just raise ya hand.

Hey mate being a toyota nut (or ex nut) i know whats involved in this swap. The 3SF motor you have fitted currently has the same block as the 3SGTE. The 3SF is basically the economy version of the 3SGE fitted to early 90's celica's. this would be a good swap to do plenty of power and basically a bolt in accept for the computer and wiring loom. Also the exhaust will need to be changed to suit the turbo car, Fuel pumps you will need also most of that stuff should be able to be sourced from a GT4 celica. I'd be willing to lend you a hand but your up in uraidla a little far for me. You can email me if you get stuck and i'll do my best to help you out. I like the concept of a sleeper camry and also the originality of the idea cos no one does up a camry's. Will look forward to seeing this under way biggrin.gif
Unbalancedr
Well, the workshop I'll be using is on Richmond Rd and apparently has all the tools i need.
But as I've said already, itll be while before it happens, I'm spending pretty much every cent tonight to buy a car to fill in the Camry's shoes for the time being. Probly jsut getting a shitty vl commodore. Not my ideal car of choice, but if it runs, thats all im worried about right now.

Unless someone has a car that they know will last me at least 6 months (i need some assurance, ive already had two very bad experiences with cars fucking up as soon as i buy them) and is gonna cost me less than $1600.

The vl im buying is from an ex mechanic and i've got his word that if it fucks up in some way which isnt my fault, then he'll fix it for free... And thats the only thing thats tipping me towards this car and not something i see in the advertiser.

But i guess if all you guys on here are car geniuses... then i can take a risk... Still... I'd rather not.

P.S. If you do have a car to offer me... Did i mention i want it tonight?

its very early AM and i cant remember names of things...

But i think your problem might be caused by the shaft the bearing spins on being unevenly worn.. this happens when the grease gets depleated and it runs metal on metal. best bet would be to get said item replaced.. there is no real other reason for this happening unless the mechanic you are going to is either miss-diagnosing another issue, or they are not fitting the new bearings properly.
DeLr
misalignment... tho they should go in level b naturaly. poetntiallys omthing else has been damaged when this has happeened and its causing a repeat effect as the scondary problem hasnt been diagnosed.

take it to a suspencion/steering specialist. and get it checked for other damage. alot of places do a "##$ saftey check"

see if u can find somthing that could be causing it that way.,..

Is that the model you are putting the 3sgte into?

General Motoring Question:

I have a (cough cough) festiva which is otherwise a reliable little car, except the wheel bearings keep going on it,  has happened 3 times in a year on one of the front ones!!!
They replaced it under warranty but obviously something is up because people have told me wheel bearings are a once-in-a-lifetime if you're unlucky thing to have to replace.

Anybody got suggestions on what could cause this?

Thanks Muchly

Who is replacing the bearings? eg. qualified mechanic/homemechanic friend. Bearings are a long lasting item as you have said that maount of bearing failure is quite high. Are you using the correct grease? there is normal general purpose grease and high temp bearing grease. As absent 1 said could be an issue with where the bearings run on the stub axle too. Bersings can be easy to stuff up if not fitted correctly.

It is... I know that makes the job a ot harder and more expensive... But if you can suggest another engine that will simplify the job but still give me some serious power, then im open to suggestions.

Hmm...

could you possibly give me more precise info about a 2vz-fe to a 3sgte conversion??
some stats comparisons would be sweet.
*

Thats a harder conversion the the earlier camry's with the straight swapof a 3sf to a 3sgte. Could still be done but more custom stuff would be required, money would be better spent on a pair of turbo's and custom mapping.
Unbalancedr
yeah... hmm...

I considering perhaps going nuts with an angle grinder and making my ride into a convertible - anyone got any ideas as to what other car is similar enough for me to be able to take the convertible setup of one to put it onto this one... an 88 camry.

As for the engine business. It definitely needs more power. And the engine in it is fraked, so i figured id put a new, better engine in - but if nothings gonna fit my engine mounts... then hmm...
need to rethink that one.
BOOSTINGr
I woudn't try and make a convertable out of a std car without extensive knowledge of engineering etc. It won't work and will most likely snap in half if you fill it up with people. I've tried it with an old carolla once we cut the roof off and planned to drive it around till it got defected but it was just too dangerous.

As for your motor its sort of hard to modify if the current one is stuffed. I wouldn't try and fit a 3SGTE in there as the expense will be enormous. Get a good 2nd hand one or rebuild yours with a balnce slight cams headwork and see how you go if you want more maybe think about either a turbo or two or strap a supercharger to it and get your computer either re mapped if its possible with that model or programable efi. For the money you spend on this built you could buy a small turbo car with mods done already. Morpheus one of the members here has an exa for sale and they go well as i have one too hehe.
absent1r
I have seen a car converted into a convertable... and its a shietload of work... the amount of extra metal you need to pack into it to make it stable is amazing.. the roof actually supports alot of the car... and converting 4 door cars is an absolute nightmare.

Dont buy a nissan... get a turbo mitsi like mine... only not crashed tongue.gif
Unbalancedr
As far as the camry goes... Ill upgrade from a 2VZ to a 3VZ and then pack in the turbo... It fits the same engine mounts (only engine that does) and it'll give me a bit more juice.

ME GO BROOM BROOM!!
BOOSTINGr
That sounds like a far easier swap than to a 3sgte. In the end you will end up with more power anyhow as long as the build/ parts selected and the tuning are all up to scratch. Good luck with your mods.
kaBOOMr
I think a big V6 is the go over a turbo motor, sure the turbo motor has that wonderful torque wave we all love, but really are you gunna use it to its full potential?

razor blade and a heat gun will do the job. pretty sure that how the experts do it

only problem with that... is if its a rear window... u dont want to get the razor blade over the demister thingy's or you'll cut the circuit... done that before...

I'm only 2nd year mech eng student..

I have attached a list of SA chartered engineers listed by TransportSA..

The only probs at droping these motors in is some times the oil filter set up is a tad different and it wont fit where the engine mounts are. Thay foul up. I have had a couple bluebirds and had a hot blue printed 2ltr but it was a original 200b motor. It wouldnt fit due to the oil filter was on a different angle and was fouling up against the engine mount. But when theres a will theres a way. I got a xtra small oil filter from A1 autos when thay where open and got a mate to machine away some of the mount. It was a tite fit but made it fit. Boy did this Dato move. Blew away VT commys and some 5ltrs.

I also had a 180b SSS Coupe. Was a beast! i loved it. Went hard and was a pearler. I would love to get hold of another 1 for sure.

BOOSTING
yes there were problems with fowling engine mounts on the L20's and L20B's but what you have described is a fix for sure. I used to like the combo of a L20 with a 180BSSS bigport head with Volkswagon flatop pistons twin sidedraught webbers/ solex extractors, elec ignition and a cam regrind of some sort made for a tough little motor. Even had experince fitting the Z24 nivara crank into the L20 to make a L24 have to make some clearance for the counterweights on the crank but tough bottom ends haha

NEW ONE!

an unnamed person I know has a Corolla that has been playing up - apparently just stops while driving and then won't budge for a few moments, and after a pause it will fire up and run fine again for a little while. We have had some worthwhile people look at it, including past and current professional mechanics, yet they have all found nothing obvious wrong. I figure something is clearly awry but don't know what - anyone got any ideas?

I first thought blocked fuel filter or stuffed fuel pump, but apparently not, and the electrics appear to be ok - there is no real pattern to the stalls but they are still happening. Can anyone tell me if this kind of symptom could be something evil like sugar or water in the fuel?
Harley
Mate had a simalr problem with hus commy. It would start then drive then die. Then have troubles starting. We did all the norm. Checkd the fuel, put in a new ignition as the rotar and cap had seen better days. Still it was playing up. Went over everything and couldnt find what it was.
We ended up changing the coil and she work perfectly. What was happening the coil wasnt putting out enough spark all the time. We check to leads to see the spark. It had one but was very faint. A orange color. Put in a new coil and ended up having a massive blue spark and gave my mate abit of a kick.

If you put suger in the fuel doesnt it turn into a jelly?? Maybe run the tank low and to it up with premium and put some carb cleaner in it. Mite not be the fuel but it wouldnt hurt doing it

Keep us posted on what it ended up been

Good luck

Try looking at tat side of things if you havnt already

you need more info
eg- so will it stil turn over ,
deos it just cut out or splutter for a while first
is there a specific amount of time before it does this??????
Oldskoolier
The problem is simple to fix. Ive had a similar issue with a corolla before. What you need to do is quite a lengthy process, but you will be very happy in the end. Fill the tank with petrol. Next you must connect a very long ignition lead to the distributer and connect a spark plug to the other end. Open the fuel cap and place the spark plug end into the fuel tank. Put your best sneakers on your feet, and have 000 on spead dial. Now start the car. That should fix any corolla.

(Disclaimer: If you take this seriously you may die)

sounds good, i'll just get my gullible mate to try it out smile.gif

all the (other) advice has been good so far, i will certainly try a few more things, but will have to actually be able to see the problem happen myself before I can flesh out the symptoms more. one of those things that never happens when someone is looking at it, only when it's dark and there is noone else around wink.gif
michr
i can add to it a little, the issue occurs mostly at night but doesn't seem to be related to anything electrical, it's done it without the lights on as well as when they are on. Basically the car runs fine, cuts out and starts again almost immediately... there is no spluttering or associated noise and it turns over right as rain after it's died. It's happening repeatedly as well, so the car is driven, cuts out and coasts to a stop, car is started and goes fine again for a while then hey presto same thing happens. Bloody carolla!!!
Oldskoolier
do the ignition leads have enough seperation?
The distributer may need some wd40
How old is the car?
When was the timing last done?
It could be something as simple as an intermitant earth leakage or loose connection that disconnects at any given time.

Its a hard problem to diagnose without having the car infront of me.. But im sure its definately something.
michr
lol.. i'm sure it's definitely something too!!!

Simon had a look at it for us and couldn't find anything, then it was taken to a toyota service centre and they couldn't find the problem either.... it never happens when someone else looks at it, just when mum is driving it on her own, mostly at night or in peak hour traffic - the worst time for these things to happen!

The car is 1990 I think - it's PH's old car.. i think he's hexed it or something!
Oldskoolier
oh. ok, perhaps he shouldnt have washed it that one time.

Perhaps try contacted him to see if he was aware. Or!!!!

Cheers hun, CMI in the city couldn't find anything (not sure who the person looking at it was but will check with mum)... mum's in a bit of a tissy about it all.... she gets like that with things she doesn't understand - especially when mechanics, who should know, don't understand either. Fair call.

so the latest saga in this fraking car is that it's now completely dead... the battery died last night apparently after mum waited for hours for a tow truck to get the stupid car home.. so now I'm giving up posession of my car (meaning walking to and from work everyday - if I were still in the city I'd be fine with it but Kent Town and back everyday - not looking to it in this heat!) so that she can get to and from work... I'm going to blow it up - despite what every one says Carolla's are nothing but trouble!

I'm going to see if CMI can take it on saturday and fix it this time.... god damn piece of crap!
DeLr
sounds like an intermittent problem. possible a dry connection some where that is shorting out. its time exhausting, but might need toi trace the electrics and find a week or bad joint?

not a re;lay some where getting hot and dropping out ?

bad coil/dizzy???
michr
bad car full stop maybe???!! it's turning out to be more expensive to fix it than it was to buy the bloody thing... and the money for it isn't coming out of the old ladies pockets so I'm not at all pleased - not to mention the massive disruption to my life - I'm meant to have my car around for work at all times but can't leave my mum out with just public transport to rely on late at night!

waylander_jobbyr
try bob Jane T marts they quite often have interest free deals, i don't know if they can get those mags u want in, but I'm sure they could..
Harleyr
Most tyre mobs do intrest free terms. Just gota make sure you have paid them off before the intrest free time runs out as you will get charge something like 18% intrest on what you took out not what you have left to pay. In saying that try Tyre power at Parafield Airport near bunnings they are pretty good or you could try the mag wheel centre on Prospect road

Put big fat Centreline convos at the back and pizza cutters at the front. Man i love the drag car look biggrin.gif biggrin.gif proberlly wont suit a sillycar. Or get a set of spinners bling bling

I DESPERATLY NEED SOMEONE TO LOOK AT MY MOTORBIKE THIS WEEK

it doesnt start, not the battery, hasnt been riden in ages, tried just starting it every few days to keep batteryy going but then it got harder and harder to stART, could be spark plugs or something else someone said. its at my sisters and she is leaving the state on the 20th of may THIS SUNDAY please i need urgent help

if all else fails if someone has a trailer with harness stuff (simon i know you used what im talking about when you bought yours) to get it to my place north plympton to renown park THIS WEEK...... PLEEAASSE
Harleyr
Sounds like the plugs are fouled or the fuel has gone off. Try draing the fuel and put in BP Ultimate and take out the plugs and give em a quick clean. If the battery is slightly flat jump start it of a car battery. I had this prob before with my Harley and it was the fuel and plugs
dream*catcherr
this started happening when i had fresh bp ultimate... i havnt riden in 4 months sad.gif we'll try the plugs but i need someone to do it, im a chick!

OK...... I need some help with a few things involving my pride & joy!!! biggrin.gif

I need to find someone that can engineer my 17" mag wheels onto my 1999 lancer, (came out with 16").

I did post something about this a while ago but cant find anything relating to it anymore.

Can anyone help refer me onto someone???

I've been told prices vary, depending who you go to? Does anyone one know someone in that industry?

Also is there anyone out there who can refer me onto a good vehicle enhancer? (painter & fitter of bodykits?)

I've got a body kit sitting under my spare bed that needs to be sanded, painted & fitted again.

CAN ANY1 HELP?............. unsure.gif

Sorry hay i cant help as im so busy with work and free time is usually spent at home relaxing or helping my mum out. If you get stuck i could organise a bike trailer as my mate has one but my car doesnt have a tow ball. And been a 'chick" isnt a excuse biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Let us no if you would like me to organise my mates bike trailer. As he lives around the Croydon area thats near Renown park.

I was wondering if i could get some help locating a supplier for part's of a body kit i'm after.

I was after the C-One body kit for my Celica. I have found someone who can do the front bar, but they are in Sydney. Can anyone point me in the direction of someone who can supply the side skirt's locally?

what '99 model lancer came out with 16's? do you mean 14's?

if they came out of factory with 16's, you don't need to get 17's engineered.

Algate crash repairers are really good, he painted the bumper and the passenger door on my old car did a perfect job as far as i could see, but when i went to pick it up he asked if he could keep the car for a few more days because he wasn't happy with colour match, was perfect already, and so he painted it again at his cost too biggrin.gif i call that good service, and he wasn't expensive either.

Does anybody know of a "glue" or a "sealer" that can glue together a small (and by small I mean very small) bit of peeling window tint?

I called tint-a-car, they said there is no point getting it re-done, I'm just after the name of a good sealer etc at a place around West Lakes

Try a little bit of soapy water underneath, just a drop. and use a sqeegy or sponge to try and get it to stick again. or take it to a window tinter and get them to fix it.

my ford telstar has been acting funny lately. giving some weird ass revs in the lower L and S gears, if i put it in them, bottoming out.

and in drive it kicks a bit and then takes off, my mate at work reckons it might be the torque converter.

i've got 1.5k saved up for another car (not sure what i want yet, obviously i've got a lot of saving to do).

been driving my old school lancer around as i don't want to hurt the tellie any more.

it's pimpin, real fun car to drive, i'm thinking about getting rid of the telstar altogether, hehe.

anyway here's some pics of the lancer.

dude, have you checked the trans fluid level?  There should be a dipstick just like checking oil.  You gotta check the trans fluid when the car is just warmed up.  Sounds like it may be a bit low.

Go the old skool lancer!

yeah I have seen that too but like you I always check when it is warm. I also give it a sniff if the trans is playing up - if the oil smells burnt that means the trans has some major issues!!!
455Pontiacr

You can normally tell by just looking at it. If the oil is a darky purple color thats burnt and your clutchs and bands etc are proberlly gone. Trans oil should be a nice red color same as power steering fluid.

He could even try and put a trans service kit in it. You just drain the oil and drop the bottom pan change, the filter and put a new gasket and put it back together with new oil. This way you could check the filter to see if it has metal flakes in it and if it does well just put the old oil in it. No use wasting good oil when the trans is buggerd.

Tho in saying this i dont know what is worse. Trans oil or diff oil. I hate trans oil.
