yet you started a surfing thred ... wtf? hehehe
anyway, I have been out a couple of times but not enough to actually get good, but still like it. have been close to buying myself a board once or twice, but cold water always puts me off (and I can't afford both board and wettie:))
once it gets warm again i will spend alot of time on the coast, and surfing can be just one sweet part of that, along with kites and picnics and booze and stuff with sand in it ;)
I used to surf a lot when i was 20 but in the last few years sharks have put me off to the extent where i just can't be bothered unless its really good. I have surfed all through the victor harbor area weights, parsons, kiton rocks, bullies( which was my biggest surf ever just over 8 foot), boomers knights love em all and the massive power of south coast waves.
Some of the smller reef breaks along the metro coast can be good on their days i've had em up to 3-4 foot and pretty clean.
Some of my fav waves ever though would be over yorkes! i love westcape, lizzards, and also chi's but never surfed it. Had a really good 6 foot day one easter down at the surfers camp can't remember now what the break was called but we has dolphins surfing the waves with us it was amazing.

i used to surf when i was 15-16, and loved to hit up boomers, great fun. Kinda (regrettably :( ) stopped when i moved away from the beach, but oh well, its on my 'stuff i need to get back into when i have the motivation / money to do so' list :)
I used to surf at Blackfellas Beach (not being racist..thats what it was called back then - probably changed now due to political correctness), which was near Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula, as well as Beards Bay near Streaky Bay and generally a lot of the other beaches in between these two points whose names escape me now...surfing heaven I think....but the west side of the Eyre Peninsula seems to be a well known place for shark spotting lately
Also, as a side adventure you could go sand boarding on the massive sand hills that flank the beaches too...now thats fun with the bonnet of an old FJ :P
I'm not as brave as I used to be so if I go out at all these days to surf I am a body boarder all the way.... :) Little to no skills required to have fun ;)

OI i'm a body boarder or used to be. The skills are basic for starting real easy but as you get futher into it and push it further like most things a there is quite a bit of skill and balance involved. Drop knee is a pretty wicked trick which i never got down pat but i managed to pull off some pretty good 360's. Barrel rolls are also fun, just as the wave is about to break you do a hard bottom turn and hit the lip of the wave as it breaks. you end up airborn and either a 360 or a roll looks wicked. i still have my boards and flippers maybe there should be an anthems surf trip planned for this summer??
