Just bought a hybrid bike... wanna ride!

I went for a 2 hour bike ride today

alright - the captain has wheels! let's get together and do the Linear Park one afternoon soon and see what we can get up to. Mich and I love to ride (our bikes) and will be keen for every ride on any day ...

better still - for all those thinking of going to the gastronomic shennanigans tomorrow (sunday lunch) - who's up for a leisurely cycle before lunchtime? Paul - you keen to get out for an hour or so before hitting up the tapp inn for refreshments?

i could suggest meeting in town at 11am for a scenic roll along the torrens, then out to kent town for lunch by 12:30 - who's up?

I was going to ride to the Tapp Inn anyway... would take me about 20-25 miinutes to get here...

alright then edit the ETA at Tapp Inn to midday (due to information recently to hand), so we could meet in front of the convention centre at 11am. That's on the river side

Then we can roll up the linear park as far as we can be botrhered, and then turn around and come back down to the kent town hotel for a well earned beverage!

anyone else keen? at this stage we have three riders ...

lol. well... u know wat, i might try meet u half way on the linear park track... i'll leave from ttp interchange at 11 if i can and ride and ride and ride... i havent ridden long distance in a long time, i'm gonna die. lol.

i'll do my best... and if i can survive i'll give it a go going to tapp inn

update:

meet between the river torrens and the convention centre at 11am (Paul - we should be able to find each other easily there)

ride towards the hills on the south side of the river, as far as we can. there are some parts where the trail is only on one side but we will be fine i'm sure. That way we should be able to meet up with foonji somewhere near walkerville?

then stop for a chat

and mosey back (foonji will just keep going in the same direction) towards botanic park where we can turn left and head up hackney rd towwards the tapp inn

lock up two wheeled machines - enter tapp inn - play golf, eat and piss on!

sounds like a good day out to me

I just got a bike But will have to get the fitness level up before i venture too far, I get to the letter box and ........................i'm spent.

This is a wicked social idea can't wait to get out and about and see more of our beautiful city.

sounds like a lovely way to greet the day - you are in the hills somehwre aren't you? Phil has bailed on the tuesday ride but i will still head out in the arvo if anyone wants to join me. can be a ful on trek or a leisurely roll depending on what we feel like doing and what the weather is doing too

I just got back!!! rode from my house (in the middle of Mt Barker) to the top of mt barker summit!!! AND BACK!!! i can barely walk and my wrists are a bit stiff!! was good tho

Im up for a casual ride 2moz.. nothing too intense please

Na seriously i did just get a pushie which i want to go for a ride down the bike trail near the torrens but i need to get the fitness level up a bit more RAVING helps but not quite strenuous enough

There is some bloody massive hills up here i tell ya!!! vertical slopes!! There's also a bike trail which stays resonably flat and goes around the wetlands and back up the other side of Mt Barker which is nice.. Im keen to try some other places tho

I got infinately to drunk on Saturday night... I can tell you I wasn't pretty when i got home!

So fucked I missed it... but even standing up at 11am on Sunday was hard work...

Weekdays are out for me at the moment... only leaving weekends...
But we've got a 4 day'er coming this week... maybe one of those days??

monday afternoon (all free at this stage)

Yeah.. sorted is better... I think i could do a few hours if it was a relaxed pase with a coffee break in the middle!

coffee break in the middle... SOFT!!!! you ride with us for two hours straight then we might let you stop for a drink of water... otherwise you need to ride with the little kids!!!

Monday works for us I think... sunday is easter... I do only one thing on easter and that is eat chocolate.... the only movement required on that day is bringing my hand, full of chocolate, to my mouth.

Maybe meeting in the city and ride linear park to beach and then somewhere else... I've got a interesting bit of bikeway that runs behind the airport between richmond and the end of morphett road near the golf course

you get an unobstructed view of the planes landing and taking off.. it's pretty cool

after tomorrow i'm gonna have plenty of time to ride around, buuuuut looking at the forcast shit's gonna get average for a couple of days buuuuut having said that it should be better for monday. not really in to oakbank, just an excuse for people to wear expensive looking clothes, get drunk and act like idiots as apposed to a normal night in the city where people dress up in "fashionable" looking clothes, get drunk and act like idiots. personally prefer to get away from the public - bike riding helps that... anyone up for trecking through belair national park at some other point in the near future too??

put me down for bein there monday, where ever there is...

i think 2 works fine with us.. which direction do we want to ride in? We can go up the torrens to henley/west beach (whichever one it ends at there) along the beach up to glenelg and then back either the same way or along anzac highway which shouldn't be too busy on a public holiday.. thoughts anyone???? Meeting spot, just to the side of where the paddle boats are moored....

Handy Hint for all those newbies:
check the side of your tires for the max pressure they can take and pump your tires up to 5lbs below it, the extra pressure will make it far easier to ride with and will be less work for ya - my current tyres are running 55-60lbs, sure you feel a few more bumps but even 10lbs makes a huge difference to ease of riding. Also, unless you're going to be doing a lot of off road downhill riding you should look at getting some slick tires - nobbleys are sooooooo much harder work than slicks. i've got a set of slicks with mild tread on them and they are fine for dirt paths and shite that you'd come accross 95% of the time.

my bike is more mountain bike orientated. says on the tires, 30-35psi for offroad, 60-65psi for road.
had them at about 50psi the other days, seemed all right. will have to put up to 60 and see how that goes.

bout this time last year i had a stack on my bike and if i wasn't wearing a helmet my whole face would have laid some serious paint on the side walk, instead only my chin made contact and the rest o' my face was saved... had killer shock and concussion after too...

Oh me i had one!!! I was hooning down a hill............ foot slipped forwards off the pedal and my toes caught on the ground, pedal swung around and hit the back of my leg hurting my toes even more and then i went flying over the handle bars- landed on my head and then bike landed on top of me
Worst thing- no houses, no mobile phone & no traffic so i had to hop (coz my foot doubled in size & i couldnt put any pressure on it) with a very sore neck!!! 3kms later i reached a town & called my mummy to come get me nothing broken though- just a few weeks before i could walk again

we just bought a bike for Lauren recently form k-mart. cost about $120 i think. not bad. will do what she needs it to do....get places, stop. only thing is you'll need someone with tools and know-how to put it together cause they can be a pain in the butt. either that or you could just go to a bike shop. im sure the bike shop reason will be able to point you in the right direction, or they could put the one you bought at k-mart together for you. for a price though i'm sure.

glenelg is good, you guys have the tram line path running near your place (you can get to it via the end of meringie avenue) so that's a good start.. and it's not a particularly hard ride so a nice way to break in the new bikes.

The linear park trail running from TTP to the beach along the torrens is a great ride too... and not hard to get to from most points surrounding the city or along the way

we did the riesling trail up in the Clare valley yesterday, wasn't nearly as hard or long as either of us thought.. think it took us longer to drive up there than the entire ride itself!!!

Looks like the T man and I will be on the hunt for a bit more of a challenge soon!

there was no 'team' to be part of, it was a organised night for ALL anthems members.

ujust had ot find 2 others to drive with u in a team as it was a 3 man per team endurance race.

last sunday i went out on a ride for the first time in about 3 weeks through belair park. i made it to the furthest gate, normally where i turn back boot down hill, and it's about 2/3rd's the way to crafers so i decide to give it a go. i made it up to the freeway and thought about lofty, "hell it's not that far, i'm already 2/3rd's the way there" i think to myself...

by the top my legs were 100% aeroplane jelly but the view was wikid - mid 20's clear sky, but that wasn't the fun part, for what goes up must come down. Anyway, i just had to say that flying down green hill road on a couple of kilo's of aluminium and rubber is FUCKING HEAPS FUN!!! when i got to the bottom there was a 1 & half inch wide patch on my tires that had worn jet black from caning round corners

i made it back in to town and absolutely demolished a large pizza from san giorgio's on rundle st, i kinda had the munchies too

so, if ya feel like doing something kinda stupid catch a train to belair and head back down to town via lofty

i do that on the GPX250, or the RX-7 stuff doing it on push bike!!!

but your right.. some greta scenery and awesome roads!

i used to love booting round there in my roller... up around cherry gardens is mad fun too. it pains me to have my car off the road but i'm saving my cash...
