heh me and mich had a good laugh about emo's whilst playing pool....was rather funny

...there are some emo's that are tru to the punk form.....and then there are the attention seeking ones who are loud and annoying just cos they think they can be, and then there are the sad deppressing ones who talk about slitting their wrists...just cos they can...but they never follow thro with it

personally i think the side emo fringe can look really hot!....but only a few ppl can pull it off

wat i dont like is wen the emo kids sit around the malls balls and are really annoying

Did any of you know it all's even bother to go to the freaking site god it really grinds my gears when uppitty biddies think they know everything there is to know about everything for starters READ THE BLOODY WEBSITE emo's aren't suicidal emo's aren't gothic emo's aren't punks emo derived from the word EMOTIONAL should give a little bit of explaination, secondly these emo's you know who talk about sliting their wrists are depressed attention seeking teenagers believe it or not i've been depressed at times, given "emo's" listen to punk or what ever but i have a few mates that are emo and a few mates that are punks the last time the emo's dudes came round when the punk dudes and the punk chick "crazy biddie she tried to bite my arm off" the emo dudes got skate bords at their head emo's are typically very clean and neat not a hair out of place clean clothes shit like that until any1 actually looks at this site you are slightly under intellagent, god i hate it when people make assumsions based on their own thoughts and beliefs

And I thought an Emo was a style of haircut, in the shape of an Emu. Apparently after reading this site it means emotional.

u're misdirecting your little tirade... you need to go to the mall balls and tell this to the wanna be emo's that hang around there, whinge and bitch about everything and anything and go on and on and on about how miserable and pathetic their lives are while making a nuisance of themselves. The sad fact is MM that most of the people out there who fit the emo stereotype are exactly the way the others who've commented in this thread suggest. Sure they are not all bad and no one here is bagging the punk or the emo culture, each to their own, however, there are allot of younger kids out there who think they are emo and ruin it for the true emo's. You can't get angry at people here for their comments when all they see are the bad emo's and none of the good.
Be more upset about the misrepresentation of the emo culture with the ones who are making it look bad... we don't make it look bad.. we're not emo wanna be's, we're not the ones perpetuating a negative stereotype about the culture! People can only comment on what they see and experience first hand...

and before you ask yes i did read the web site.... it's a fabulous ideal for people into that kind of thing provided it's not abused.... like every trend/culture/way of life, there are those who claim to be emo but don't do too good a job at understanding it for what it is.
I'm sure emo's and other groups get just as agro about the "rave" culture because a few retarded ravers ruin it for the rest of us!

I agree with you Daana. I used to play lead guitar in a Hardcore / Hardcore-Punk band up until recently, and it used to really annoy me when people would judge you for no real reason (although i didnt really look the part, so i didnt get that too much) other than the type of music you listen too. Much the same as what happens with this culture...

However, after a few years in the scene, i really do dislike the elitist try-hard emos that you see in the mall on friday nights, people who really do not understand what the whole scene is about

Daana no need to get into this so much! i think this is all coz i ddnt explain wat an emo is, right, to wat u have read on a website! okay, i dont really know, i tried to explain it as it had been explained to me! just everyone that talks about emo that i kno (other than u) says the same thing. i have no problem with them, i hate putting names on ppl coz of the way they look or who theyr with, i do agree that there are a million extremely emotional, attention seeking teens around, some not as attention seeking as others, ppl just have a few issues with emos atm coz so many ppl(teens) are trying to be them and its ruining a reputation. i could go on, but there isnt really much point.

an emo is a goth, punk, dark eyelined looking person with dark black clothes, sometimes spiky hair and alot of makeup.

i listen to some "emo" tunes, some of the music is pretty good, a lot of it is a bit full on and graphic for my taste, but im sure it means something to someone.

it's a bit strange for one minority to take on aanother one (ravers vs emos)

i just dont get how they are trying to be "non conformists" yet they ALL and i mean all (the guys and the girls) wear EXACTLY the same tight black pants....

Emo is someone that conforms to non-comformity. Someone that dresses in gothic clothing as a fashion statement. Someone that in the old days followed EMO-punk but they rarely wear the black that the young ones do now. Self infliction of pain is always mentioned but plays a minor role. Depression, down moods....i dunno.
That is what I think an emo is. I don't like a lot of their beliefs and style. Which sometimes I mention to them when drunk.
