paul said a swear word...hehehehehehehehe.....not my type of drink, i like the ones they give the kiddie, taste just like grape juice...mmmm wonder why????lol
Oldskoolier
After a couple of reds and the LOVE of what it does to him, ive noticed Paul often throws a swearword in to spice things up a bit!

Fuckin love it!!!
Shadowr
When it comes to red I'll drink pretty much everything except Claret. But most of the stuff I get is from the Riverland region as I have family with vineyards and get the stuff for me either really cheap or for nothing. biggrin.gif Unfortunatley for me once I start a bottle I cant stop tongue.gif

rofl.. what you talking about willis

being from the barossa i'm naturally surrounded by wine, so i've kind of aquired a taste for it. although that said i'm still a bit of a noob about what's what, and i'm still a fairly bad white wine pussy. reds are a little too heavy for me...apart from rose's. love the lolly wine.

ah yeah, and i live two minutes up the road from wolf blass winery. which gives me an idea...

anthems wine tour! smile.gif

Although i despise red wine, i love a good rose.............. user posted image

the sweet stuff.. you like riesling? I can't stand it, prefer chardonnay, but really would rather have a good shiraz or cab sav, etc..
Oldskoolier
Chain of Ponds make a nice chilled red, much like rose. Chain of Ponds Novello Rosso
Banrock Station White Shiraz is also close to the top of my list of nice chilled reds

oh I know why people prefer white wine.. I started off the same way, being a sweet wine, its great to drink.. then my tastes "matured" (not me tho) and got into the reds, never looked back since..
Oldskoolier
sauvingnon blanc is a white, hardly sweet. MMMM

Im not a huge fan of sweet wines. i like my wine heavy, dry, and spicey
fo_sho_manr
chardonnay is the sweetest of the true white wines I would say, but could be wrong..
DeLr
im a red man myself a strong flavoured shiraz or a cab, merlot in the reds is classed as a dessert wine.. more sweeter than most.

ill keep an eye out for a few of the ones mentioned.

ive got some wines in my bottom rack.. i gotta wait another 10 yrs to drink sad.gif old vines vintage grenache, the few ive opened 'early' have been adsoluetly fantastic!
Fulcrumr
Most of my collection are dry reds and ancient fortified wines. I do have a few whites but never drink them myself, usually only for guests if they prefer them...

I got a great idea from the last barossa tour I went on - freeze a bottle of port for the odd glass on a summer day, it doesn't actually freeze solid, more like an ice slush, very nice smile.gif
michr
chocolate port... now that's something you all have to try...

Fulcrumr
never had chocolate, is it just flavouring or is it like a port milkshake? hahaha biggrin.gif...

i do have bottle of blueberry port tho
michr
it' just flavouring... discovered it at a winery in the barossa... it's called sable and it's delicious.. not the biggest port fan in the world but this stuff really rocks!!!

a great red wine is DeBorteli's Pinot Noir.... a bit pricey but their reds are always fantastic and even Toby likes to hack into the Pinot!

we also discovered a really nice sparkling from Curreny Creek recently. It's a pinot noir chardonnay mix... obviously more pinot, lovely soft rose colour and a very tasty bubbly, even for those who aren't bubbly fans...
Fulcrumr
i really have to get on another winery walkabout smile.gif
michr
yeah!!! we really need to get our acts together and organise an anthems winery day!
Oldskoolier
Ive tried Sable, not a big fan but its ok. smile.gif
michr
it's still port.. that's the problem.. if it tasted more like liquid chocolate and less like port it'd be my favourite drink!

i think theres already a thread somehwere about a winery tour

im in if it ends up happening. i like getting drunk for free...................
michr
u like anything for free!!! I know there was a thread... should hunt it down and revive it. Considering December is pretty chockers at the moment a January tour might not be such a bad idea...

Majella, Leconfield, Fox Creek, Morris (shraz/durif - YUM!!!) Joseph - the list is endless and they're all fantastic!!! Working in the wine industry for nigh on 8 years has meant I've been very spolit - and collected a very large cellar for nix!! I know, poor me tongue.gif

Anyone want to come over & help me make a dent in it is welcome - I've got heaps of 96's & 98's that are probably going to be in their prime in the coming months smile.gif I have a very large dining table too - anthems Beefsteak & Burgundy Club, anyone?????
*smp*r
ooooh, I'm yet to dip my foot into these murky red waters again after the huge falling out red wine and I had a couple of months ago....but NEVER SAY NEVER biggrin.gif
Oldskoolier
Anything Henschke rules in my book! Hill of Grace esspecially.

But if you like a fine red with dinner i highly recommend Henschke Abbots Prayer

In all seriousity tho, anything from them is awsome, they dont make average wine.

Being from the riverland i think Banrock Station make a nice sparkling shiraz,
i also lived in the Hunter Valley in NSW and their Peppertree Merlot is great but expensive
but since ive been living in the Grampians VIC ive come accross Micheal Unwin Durif its the best drop of red ive tasted yet!!
