Mkii Cortina

well a few ppl have asked for a few pics so what i am going to do is have this post on pics through the stages of the rebuild

so here goes


this first one is where i picked it up from, out side of foonji place

and what's the verdict??

The good thing about such a car is that the technology of the day is so simple and minimal that you dont have a huge challenge on your hands. Good luck and if you need a hand just yell out!

he's done so much work to it so far, bogged it up, sanded it, removed doors, removed windows, he's a mad man

well damage report is.... needs everything , the motor is coming out and box, and a paint, a few small rust spots to patch up, and a full new interor
there r bound to be a few other stuff that i will pick up along the way


well as foonji said, yes the rear doors r out, fuel tank is out, front and rear windows r out, boot off and boot look hole bogged up, jacked up and wheels off, back seat out and seat belts out

Awesome project.
I knew a guy who had a Mk ll with a 4AGE with TO4 turbo and it was pretty insain.

the color i want is called BLAZE, it is the new ford falcon BA color,its kinda a gold ish color, paint code is KK

the motor i have got set aside for it is the BP DOHC, 1.8 TURBO ford motor, it is in the TX3 93, or the mazda fimlia

what g/box are you gonna use?

I thaught the BP was a FWD/4WD engine?

yeh i think i no the one your talkin bout....is kinda like a yellowily-light brown-gold
color?? and yeh its on new fords and stuff......neway its a cool color but if u want to go xtreme.....haluiqun paint is the only way to

yer they r FWD/4WD, trying to fit eather a MX5 BOX or a early 323 box, not 2 sure on the bell housing yet, and the length of the box RWD, and put the engine in N/S, cause the TX3 r E/W FIT, still looking in to it all.
it can be done, just might have to put another sump on, and move engine mounts around
im trying to get a hold of some picks of the eninge from the MKI with the lotus twin cam emgine, and see what they have done, i think linton garage at glenelg have got one

well did a little bit more to day, some more bogging, and sanding...


i am getting little air bubbles from the bog when sanding it back, i dont know if i am not mixing it up right, or not pressing the bog in to lightly??? im not much of a panel beter guy, im a mechanic, so i am learning with this part

yer, sound bout right, but havent got that fair yet

but i do have the sound system stuff already, 6in 3 ways, 6x9 3 ways, sony 12in sub and claron mp3 deck, but need a amp, thats later

i used to love mark2`s, always dreamt about a mark2 GT cortina, love em!

can set up to handle really well too!

well over tha last few days, i have finally had time to do some more work on the cortina, got the back pannel sanded back, and masked off

and now a basic under coat, and that will bout do for that pannel, till i start with a the first propper under coat

I saw a GT cortina at the crash repairers down the street from work, looked shmick as except for the front end collision damage.

rail has been pushed back. has to go on a chassis jig now, didnt see the damage until i took the radiator, airbox, etc etc out.. was leaving worst till last.. turned out to be worse then i expected bloody mitsubishis eh.

My housemate has a Genuine mk1 GT under a car cover out the back, has had the body metal finished about 5 grand worth. He also had the engine machined, ported,modified by chris milton engineering about another 5 grands worth. The engine is the std 1600 but it now can rev to 9000RPM it has falcon valves in the head, one of the best port jobs i have ever seen. Thats where it stops for the moment as he has gona back to uni to study so its on hold for another year or two. If you need bits or have spares you don't want pm me as he needs a few odds and ends.

hey people's, along the lines of joker's cortina. I am restoring a mk1 GT Capri! trying to find little bits and pieces without paying a fortune in freight is damn near impossible! even resorted to scouring little known wrecking yards in the country.
So if anyone out there has one collecting mould in the back yard or knows where I can get my hands on some parts/whole wrecks pleeeeease I would live to know about it

i love that car to....

nah mines the mitsubishi... the toyota van won lol.

My housemate has a capri v6 and gearbox sitting in a friends workshop. i'm pretty sure he's not going to use it as he's slack hehe. if you need engine parts he may have it as its a complete runner.
