yeah, I would like a barebones system, they are really good and small too..

Phft! Their all full, i'm continually having to delete things I want to keep just to make room for the new stuff. Damn this internet... DAMN IT! I download around 35gb a week, which is 140 a month, for the non-Internode people. If only I could get on an Internode exchange, I could pay $10 less a month for 16x my current speed! Then I could mirror the internet faster :-)

hahaha nah 'definite' was say with all that harddrive space u got a killa machine gig of ram etc etc can we upgrade much on a socket a board...i think my next upgrades gotta be a full upgrade. mobo cpu vid card ram.
Davin
Take it from someone who learnt the hard way, there is no such thing as enough drive space! Just buy a DVD burner and a carton of DVD spindles. 50 spindle of DVD-R for $21. That's 235GB for $21!

I went to the trouble of a dedicated file server, but when its 3/4 of a terrabyte of drives filled up, I had burnfest 2004. Much more sensible than wasting endless $ on more drives
definate
I don't burn. It would cost too much. :-( And take too long.
DeL
he has a point, i burn to mp3 on dvds 4.7 gig per disk is alot of mp3s.. i got mp3 player in lounge room so i burn to cd-r for there.. but general storage is dvd-r.

tho the new 200 gig hdd will be veryhandy biggrin.gif
Davin

Yeah, it takes a bit of effort, but costs too much? Repeat: $21 for a spindle of 50 discs...that hold 4.7GB each!!!! 16x DVD burners are smashing through 4.7 GB burns in around 5 mins!
definate
7.4468085106382978723404255319149 discs a week needed, not so much the price, but the effort and the fact that you can never get it to exactly 4.7gb, it's usually 4.3 gb or so. HDD's are better, and mass deleteing.
DeL
yes well u dont need to burn exactly 4.7 gig... sheesh.. and 4 DVD-Rs costs far less than a 25 gig hdd... and in a month thats a 100 gig hdd for the cost of say about $8-12 ???
Pink Bear
My computer at home in an original tangerine iBook, in other words an orange toilet seat.
(But it serves me well)

My computer a work is the latest G5 on steroids -- biggest and fastest machine in my company (bar one).
Don't know the specs, that's what IT is for (guess who's got the biggest and fastest bar none).

My official job title is "Creative Artworker", and I'm a computer operator not a mechanic. It's been my policy (after years of freelancing) to not know what goes on inside the computer. That way when someone tries to ask me to just have a look at my computer, I can happily claim ignorance, and point them in the direction of the IT department.
DeL
nice work PinkBear, do the work stay outta the back groun stuff wink.gif wish i could.... just do my job nnohting else.. bastards think im a detailer makes me a panel beater a spray painter and a mechanic all in one.. tho i can do all that is asked... im not paid for it all im paid as a detailer..

might be onto better prices soon.. just in negotiations for my partnership in a Hardware company. if i go thru ill be able to offer some more competitive prices
DeL
just a mates distribution side of things. help him out and helpm,e out for cheap prices on my own stuff wink.gif

could be up for new vid card and CPU getting issues.. crashes when high end graphics required IE games etc.. and error on boot Critical error on start up.. frkn.. just got new ram and mobo a few weeks ago.. now this.. going to be a new computer soon frkn....

What sort of computer system are you running? .. and seeing as most of us are interested in music - what speaker system do you have?

For mine:

Pentium 4 - 3.07 GHz
512 RAM
nVidia GeForce 6600 GT video card
80gig HD (small, I know, but I've had no need for a bigger one yet)

As far as speakers go:
Logitech z5500 5.1's - 505 watts RMS that makes the pictures fall off my wall(s) at high volume.
foonji
there is already a computer spec thread smile.gif

fark ohmy.gif i thought i had a big one thats freakin huge!

seeming i have an sli card i asked about getting a nother video card but i found out i can only run 2 of the exact same model card mad.gif as i payed like 400-500 for mine im not going to. and it only runs smoother dosn't improve the looks.

i really want the best one you can get called the 8080 or something but its 1200!

as soon as it comes down in price its mine cool.gif

p.s as i have 2.6 MHZ would that be enough to run the 8080??
DeL
yeah SLI is exact compatibility
ehnce why u buy a card at 500-600

and then wait a few months for it to come down to 200....

as oposed to me on AGP.. im stuffed. i need ot find a second hand AGP of 7900GT specs...

the 32" is awesome! and i cant wait to hool the other PC up to the 38"!!!

hoping to sell the 38 to a mate soon and get a 42!

then ill be done!

Should do, but depends what power supply you have, I think SLI recommended is like 600w or something?

DeL
500w power supply mininum for SLI carding.

there is now 800w PSUs out there!

Del is right. To run your comp in dual SLI modes you need exactly two of the same cards.

I think you're talking about the Gigabyte 880GTX 768mb card. Very nice card but very pricey. Cheapest I've seen it most recently was $1155. sad.gif

I would love to get my hands on a Leadtek Quadro FX 3400 PCIE 256MB card but these monsters retail for just under $1800. Can you imagine the possibilities?? biggrin.gif

I only got my PSU upgraded because every time I went to play Elder Scrolls IV, my computer would just reset itself. This was due to having all the in-game settings run at full. I was told if I'm running 2 PCIE cards in SLI mode, I'd need a minimum of 500w PSU to be able to do anything properly. The Thermaltake Soprano case comes shipped with a 430w. 1000w PSU is a bit noisier than the others but my comp has been running more efficiently now.

At the moment Thermaltake has a 850w monster. PM me if you wanna know where you can buy cheap but very good quality stock. Much cheaper than some of the other stores I've been to.

DeL
yeah im still running AGP, so i need a FULL PC upgrade to PCI stuff if im goingt o do anything after this... but this PC is too high a spec to throw out adn start again.

so woudl rpefer to find thehighets quality AGP card i can get to birng it back up to scope... then sit back for another 12 months or so before i build a new beast.
