Before superclubs like Heaven and Planet, there was a place many consider to be the birth place of the of dance music scene in Adelaide. The Arkaba, or Ark as most call it, is almost untouched since the days when legendary acts like Carl Cox, Lenny D, Westbam and Frank De Wulf played regularly.

Not content to bring the memories flooding back with tune after tune of anthems gold, this venue is a special place all on its own. For those that were there the first time, relive one of the most special eras in Adelaide's dance music history, and for those that weren't, come and take a history lesson with a difference! Local legendary jocks Brendon, ATB, Madness, Andy J, MPK, Noddy, Mr S, Devious and H-Bomb taken us on a journey from the early house sounds, to banging classics and happy hard.

Due to limited venue capacity, only 100 earlybird tickets are on sale for just $20. We had 1600 turn up to St Pauls, and the Ark only has room for 600 of the quickest old school lovers around. Be a part of the anthems vibe and grab your [ticket here]!

We havent even finished todays anthems at St Pauls and we already know when the next huge anthems night is!!! The Ark is always a fantastic venue even tho some might find it hard to beleive.
Its just like a reunion of friends at the Ark.. I dont know what it is but you just seem to run into mates you havent seen for 3/6/12 months every 5 mintues. Plus you get to hear more old the old skool tracks you all love!

I'll be there for sure and I'm already looking forward to it! it will be my 3rd anthems at the Arkaba.

St Pauls holds about 1700 if you jam them in like sardines. Ark only holds about 700 sardines. Someone has to miss out if my calculations are correct....

You'd be quite surprised at how small the licensed capacities are for venues. Heaven's main room was originally licensed for 1200, but since then they've removed public access to the stage and the balcony above it. It would probably be down to less than 1100 now if it was recalculated.

Anyway, for those that know about the Ark, they will understand why this venue is not about the capacity. Even with the music turned off, that old room will give most old ravers goosebumps with memories the second they walk in the door. Add in some old school tunes and they go positively weak at the knees

If you weren't there back in th 90's, I'm sure you will still love the tunes, and you will most definately pick up the vibe that will radiate from every old schooler there hehe. I still haven't stopped bouncing off the walls from sunday/monday morning, am I'm so glad it's the Ark is not too far away

unfortunately im gone 18 days before the party so i wont be there at the ark for the 3rd time in a row!

the first 2 were 2 of the most amazing nights ive every had! never danced so hard!
i still remember hearing H-Bomb vs Noddy set when they dropped speed racer!! man was i going mental!

One thing i do remember all too well was the fact that the total solid wooden construction of the top room was great for sound so if you havent ever been there before get along and hear the difference you will notice with the sound of your favorite old school tunes. Cant bloody wait for this night, its gonna be off the wall.

On the night, just take yourself back 15 years, and imagine what is was like with dance music being very cutting edge, and this tiny community of ravers and clubbers getting together every weekend. It's a pity you can't bottle a feeling like that

Yes I agree Paul! The Ark is a great place and it all depends on the company and the music which makes for a great atmosphere. anthems is always spectacular no matter where its held!

Dunno if a recovery/after party would work as well after a friday night but I've had a lot of people ask about it though

Ahhh the Ark. The memories, many a dodgy night was spent there. One night I even won a fresh prince tape the one with summertime on it. . Never listened to it.

Conveniently located near the Glenside Hospital should you need a little "rest" after too much party

i actually really like the layout and the structure of the venue dav! much better than alot of clubs going around i say! just the fact that it isnt really a club anymore means it doesnt have the extra work done on it. but i really love the venue itself. been there 3 times! twice for anthems and once for a staff party for work and i just love the circle shape of the place. went to a club in canada last time i was there which was very similar. small and cozy.

With the booths around the outside and the main part of the room wraping around the stage, that old circular venue certainly creates a nice cozy feeling. It's big enough to fit heaps of people without feeling like a cavernous unfriendly cave. If it were to receive a 2005 decor revamp, that place would be the ultimate club today

The venue only holds 200 and it absolutely went off last year - can't wait to get back there again! Only the committed who will be there virtually from start to finish deserve to be a part of something so intimate & special. (your excuse would have to pretty good to only turn up for 2 or so hours) I know i'll be there right till the last track is dropped at 4am (is it still a 4am close btw?)
