Just seeing if aqnyone else here still liostens to much EBM, not the depressing gothic type stuff they try and call ebm, but the full proto techno stuff, like Model 500, Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, BiGod20

Is EBM any relation to IDM (Intelligent Dance Music)?
Im sure ive heard some EBM music...just cant put my finger on it! Im thinking industrial techno probably...

yeah EBM's origionally from belgium, and sometimes put under their category of new beat. But i think the proper term of new beat would be to say music influenced from acid house??, whereas ebm predates acid house.

But yeah I love Severed heads, and cabaret voltaire too. Only band ive ever got to see live though has been severed heads

A really good record to hear is Cybotron - Clear (Juan Atkin's first record) one of the defining pieces of EBM, although its actually american from detroit (predating detroit techno)

haha.. detroit styles.. you could say anything through a vocoder and it would sound cool and futuristic:

"BBBRRRRIIING MEEE TOASSST!!"

i remember being mesmerised by severed heads videoclips when i was kid on one of those wierd ABC music shows from the 80's..
