My first mix tape was the classic set and to me
and our mates it was the bible mix!

man I would kill for a track list on the classics one

I recall hearing a tape of his that had rave generator original on it
at the start and the start on the other side was hypnotist - house is mine
but more memorable was him playing michael jackson - smooth
criminal accapella !! would like to know if anyone has this one!

I didn't think to put his real name on here because I assumed the people that are interested in these sets know all the specific details.ie... Xcitement = Paul Fairburn

well I dont really feel the need to qualify myself to you but myself and the rest of the scally boys were very tight with paul and followed him to many many gigs in the early days. I left Adelaide in dec 1990 so missed much of the later stuff only to kick on in the brisbane scene for a few more years. We helped set up the rave Bleep for those that remember is and I was part of the crew whop put togehter " Stairway to heaven" with Paul Hodder and alike.

Probably all before your time though.

Oh sorry about the stupid question i followed a link from facebook and never read the header. I have 2 tapes of pauls from pre xcitement years which need converting. One is from ap rivate party we held in an old fitness complex over the road at lerox. Not sure of the name.

any of you lot catch the bus with us to that rave at the powerhouse on albert park in melbourne in early 1990 ?

saw paulhodder at the discovery reunion last week, hes looking well

sorry to be sceptical , but so many people like to say they were there when they were not ...LOL

cant remember too many specifics from lerox shenanigans of your crew , but they were ever present and a force to be recond with( my memories from there are very melted together for specifics)

I do remember there was a rave at the vision warehouse, and at the back of the rave was a little side street , so there was a house on that street that was full of "hardcore " metal heads
they were out the front on couches drinking and abusing the nancy ravers that were wandering back and forth
the ravers ignored them until they said something to a couple of girls that walked past, one of which was a scallys girlfriend .....................
so next minute roughly 5 to 7 scallys left the rave to sort this issue out
the metal head pissed themselves , bolted inside and had to move all the furniture against the inside of the door to keep the boys from getting in and they really WANTED to get in
they were very respectful after that

if you have a different mix of fairburn, whats the chance of digitising it - these gems are getting lost forever and would be good to preserve them forever..................

I know anj has taken years tracking them down , he would love to hear from you if youve got something new

The "classic mix" you posted was also my 1st mix tape. I thought I had lost it forever.

I cant tell you how grateful I am to you for digitizing this.

I'm listening to it right now for the first time in at least 10 years, and I can still remember every beat.

Thanx also for the above track list, I thought I would never find out the names of some of these chestnuts! I dont suppose anyone has the fairburn mix that starts out with the 10,000 bpm track? (a chicks voice repeating "oooh yeahhh")

No worries Andy!! I'm hoping other people have got some sets and can arsed to post them up also...but with that set your'e after download the "fast club mix" it starts off with moby 1000 and then gets cracking into classic rabbit city releases!!

That double decker bus we had was mad. I remember a load of us having some wangers before we left flinders st depot and sitting up top at the front before we got to Bordertown. I also remember hearing nitrous canisters loading as we pulle out the bus station.. and one person had a 4ltr icecream container of dope cookies which wiped out a section of the bus by the time we hit bordertown. That was just the start of a crazy 2 day bender!

The party didn't stop when we left the venue either.. it was more like when we pulled back into Flinders St station Sunday night... OUCH!!

No don't have that but have a good part of Simon's set !

sounds very simialr to our bus trip but this is not the same party. I am positive our trip was prior to this one , we had a single level bus and I have since found out it was mid 1990 that we went. Have to find out the name now.

Hardware 2 was the first bus roadtrip rave interstate in 1992 so it couldn't have been prior to that

No worries...my main target was to convert the fairburn ones and there are a couple out there I don't have so if anyone knows people with tape stash try and get em.

I didn't have the westbam one but am trying to track it down thru a mate. I had my proper collection flogged in 94 which had all my dreaming daisy tapes of 92 grrrr!!

Got some old DJ nigel tapes but am trying to find some gary hugh-z mixes...

Now there is a name I have not heard in a while. Prior to my exit to QLD in late 1990 I had every week on tape for the previous 18 months.

Unfortunately a girlfriend threw them out when we moved some time ago. Such a waste !!

Me and the scally's actually went in there one thursday night ?? for the recording of the show and it was a very big night

Ok at the request of Mr S I have uploaded a tape from 92 with 2120 & Jarrod.

This one needed afew crackles taken out but came out well.If Mr S wants to give out the back story to this mix it sounded like a lot of fun as you can tell by the mix its some cracker tunes with the lads havin a ball going hard and mixing it up!!

I love the first mix and Jarrod if you remember the id of the 1st tune it would be great.

I had a big box of tapes stolen in about 94 also
I'd kill to get that box back. It was full of gold like lenny dee's 1st visit, 2120 on 4 decks, westbam, Underground Resistance, some GT's house sets (taped of the radio), some wikid HMC sets and a shitload of fairburn!

My favourite fairburn tape started with, "DJ seduction - you and me" on one side and the other side started with the track that goes, "why... why... why... whoa oh oh oh". Have you got that one?

I never had much in the way of hugh-z but i would love to track some down. Especially from about 92 when he was playing at state with nigel.

I do still have a killer nigel tape from 92, but its so thrashed it's probably not even worth uploading.

I'll probably upload the 2120 set from Daisies soon...With that fairburn one no have'nt heard of one starting like that. damn .I've got 2 more fairburn tapes to do one is from 89 and the other is my fave. All I can say is do you know of any mates from then who might have their stash still? Thats how I tracked mine again after all the years..

I have a tape of nigel from State but not uzi unfortunately cause I used to go there most weeks,,messy times...

I do have a mate who also collected tapes, but the fairburn ones were always being lent out to other mates.... eventually never to be seen again

I started to go out somewhere around 1990 (underage of course). I used to hang around Paul & his girlfriend (Mel) at Le-Rox back in the day. Reading through this forum has brought memories flooding back of good times. I have a number of tapes Paul put together around 1991 onwards. I’ll dust them off and get them converted to mp3 over the next couple of weeks.

Does anyone know what happened to the Dennis brothers and all their mates? (The Scallys)

We met with the promoters and helped out for that event. Couple of English lads. Big NIGHT !!

Here are a couple of very poor quality scans from a party we had at Hodders place when he was living down the bay back in 1990. I do have a great pic of Simon and I but trying to find the bloody thing. From memory there is Boof in the purple stussy top, Pat the rat wit skin head and purple top, niall, Michael and girlfriend, and the rest of the lads.
