Heath Ledger found dead - NY Police

Australia actor Heath Ledger has been found dead at a downtown Manhattan residence, a New York Police Department spokesman says.

The celebrity website TMZ said Ledger, 28, was found dead in his bed in one of his residences in Soho by his housekeeper at 3.35pm New York time (0735 AEDT) on Tuesday.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe it was not a crime, TMZ said.

The 28-year-old actor has a two-year-old daughter with former fiancee Michelle Williams.

He was set to play the Joker in the upcoming Batman film The Dark Knight.

It's so sad.. someone like Heath Ledger had so much talent and so much potential. I alway's thought he was a very "clean cut" type of guy. Dedicated to his career, friends and family!

yeh.. i'm a bit bummed by it...
i mean he had real talent - lotsa good movies. He was one of the few good-looking actors that wasn't just all image & just for show... he could actually act!
No fake-ness about him.
Such a shame.

I think Candy was one of his best performances personally... That movie has me in tears every single time I've watched it.

He was quoted in an interview a few months ago saying he'd be happy to die now that he has a child because he can live on through her. I feel sorry for her cuz she's only 2, probly won't remember much about her dad but at least she's got movies to watch... I hope she doesn't watch Brokeback Mountan though :-/
