Looking forward to tearing it up at this one! Gonna play a bit of a different style to what I played at Decadance with Ruffneck/Mokum style and rip out a different style of classics. Won't be necessarily old school hardcore in the traditional sense(pre-'98), but definitely anthems. That's all I'm giving away...

HQ really need to put out a Dress Code for Rave Events coz obviously their dress code is more relaxed for these type of events and people can become confused as to what you can and can't wear.

Are you sure it was the tank top they were concerned about or his visible tattoo's (if he has any)?

I totally agree with this!! The people organising anthems should talk to the people at HQ about this. Because it really is an issue. They say one thing prior, or at least anthems people hear that they said certain things are allowed, and then on the night people get told that what they are wearing isn't allowed.

I haven't been to an anthems event at HQ yet, but if I did I wouldn't know wether to dress for HQ or for the actual anthems event. Although girls rules are more relaxed.

bouncers will always say one thing is ok for one person and not for another.... its not going to matter if your in black or white... someone will always get kicked out for wearing the same thing everyone else is

As for dress code, there was a running sheet given to me last time before the show. It listed a relaxed dress code, but one or two security weren't brought up to speed. I'll try to bring a copy with me this time to make it smoother sailing in case the issue pops up again

first of it took us a while to get in because their was a mix up @ the door and they wern't letting the members +1's in. then the bouncers @ the door were mostly REAL WANKERS, they absolutely love the power and themselves. and wern't letting people in over the most silly things and LOVE the fact that they can deny u access to somewhere u want to go.

once inside the atmosphere was good. not 2 many drunk little gunnies spillin their drinks on everyone. the music and friends were good, and i was all set to have a massive night, [B]then[I] god said let there be hardcore, and the hardcore room opened and god saw that it was good.

THEN I HAD TO LEAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the people we went with (in their car) decided they were tired and wanted to go home @ 11:15. OH MY GOD! then just as we left, they wanted to go to the CASINO!!!

I WAS NOT HAPPY JAN.

next time i will definately be taking my own car and will not rely on anyone else.

its a real shame i had to leave cus it looked like it was gonna turn in to a real good night. well done to all who organised the night, sorry i couldn't enjoy it past 11:15 :-(

yes was a real good night i hadn't danced for so long my calves were hurting me plus only had 5 1/2 hours sleep the night before cause I worked that day so ended up leaving at 2am
I originally thought that this anthems will be the last I go too but no way next one is on I will def go !!!
it was like a mix of the big ticket and discovery my 2 fav clubs of all time and every club been to since hasn't got anywhere near the music quality, DJ'ing and atmosphere =)
awsome, awsome night and great experience thumbs up too all who helped in organising it and the DJs was a real pitty i missed MPK's set but there's always next time

Yeah...I had a really big problem with the bouncers because they were checking through everybody's wallets at the security thing. I don't know what the deal was there but I'm very definite they can't do that. Then I had problems with getting my +1 in so ended up paying to get in.

But overall I had an awesome night. I was a drunken mess by the time it hit a certain time but I stayed until it closed. It was awesome catching up with all the crew and meeting some of the new ones too

Yep...quite a few people can attest to it. I thought it was quite unsual but I'll be ringing up HQ first thing on Monday morning and asking them what's the deal with that.

I'll remember to bring more chupachups next time as well I didn't have enough to go around and talking about pain...my legs are killing me and my belly is sore from eating Maccas this morning

They've been checking through wallets since the Heaven days. It all depends on the bouncer, and the person walking through the gates.

I've had my wallet/purse checked through back when it was Heaven, currently at HQ and even at St Pauls.

Even the small zip up pocket that girls handbags have have been known to be searched.

they opened my wallet. pulled cards out looked behind them, opened the coin slot looked in there, they even STUCK THEIR HANDS INSIDE MY POCKETS. as far as i know this is not legal.

Sang if your following this up i would love to know what the deal is. as I for one find it massively intrusive. to literally have some wanker stick his HANDS INSIDE MY POCKETS while im wearing my jeans is totally FCUKED!

the door list issues was bullshit, we where made to stand outside for close to half an hour before they let us in. and even then it wasnt letting us in legitimately.


i left early, but i did enjoy wat little time i did spend inside. i find some nights are make/brake in the first hour ro so. and the fiasco caused by the wankers on the door and security is what ruined my night to begin with.

It would be an easy way score and not get caught. Legally, if they find drugs on you they can not confiscate them, they can only refuse you entry. But im sure on many occasions they have been confiscated, and the patron has still been allowed to enter..

You do not have to submit to the search that they are doing, but it just means you wont be able to go in. The searches are a condition of entry, legaly you would have to give them permision to search your things, but if you dont give premision you wont go in, simple as that

Craig, that is actually Illegal, they are not actually allowed to do that. They could loose thier licence by doint that. If you remember the badge number the guy was wearing, report it and he wont ever be doing security again. Or you could even follow up with police and press charges.

actually come to think of it that would be on tape and submitted directly to the police station. should have been recorded...

i would feel like security were invading my space... i say do something about it! No one deserves to feel uncomftable.

hq is a great venue with an impressive system. jsut sad that some staff take things too far

they almost kicked out one of my mates for the T shirt he was wearing forced him to wear it inside out. and then refused his entry because he had a bum bag, with his wallet keys and phone in it.

REFUSED entry on that. so he handed it to his GF and they let them both back in.

Actually you CAN be submitted to a search as condition of entry, but searching your POCKETS is a thing that is only done on suspicion.. like if they have any HARD evidence that you are carrying contraband on you. Its a really rusty patch there with what you can and cant do as a crowd controller. Sticking hands in pockets is however a big no-no, you are required to turn your pockets inside out, for the safety of the crowd controller, if DeL had like, sharps in his pockets the stupid guard would have endangered himself. Its something we are told repeatedly, its like bashed into our heads when we apply for our licenses.
With the "frisking" they can only do it, "patting" open hand, with a comfortable like, hand-width space away from the gennies, because as was previously mentioned, its sexual harassment. Males cannot search females.. yarda yarda yarda, thats the rules.
So yeah if any of that applied to what happened to you Del, report the shit out of them, the number on his chest would have been recorded in their Security Register @ HQ so it would be quite easy to follow up IF you remember it. Otherwise, that place like Ben said is practically the Big Brother house.

had a half and half night... but it was good

Iceatronic had the same problem with his pockets being searched.. and we had huge trouble with the +1 thing.

But catching up with people I havent seen in a while was great... Sorry to have missed NokturnL and March E kinda sucked but we had to leave early.

I would love to be able to say that HQ is a great place for anthems but to be honest other than the size of the venue I dont think it is any longer right for anthems events.
Love having anthems at the ark.. would like to maybe see anthems head to Viva Complex..

I had an awesome night. BEST music i heard in a long time (til MPK came on but thats not too different from the last show. Anyone who thinks Pendulum is oldskool should be SHOT!)
Davin played a wild set, best i've seen you play by far. Awesome stuff. Hi to everyone i saw there, wasn't too many anthemites, but good to see some new crowd and some older crew getting into it

End of the day sh*t happens with bouncers. Being a girl, as sexist as it is I haven't had many problems but have been there with people that have. Not much you can do about it unfortunately.

I agree with the bouncers - bum bags on guys is soo 2002! Let the chix wear them!!

On another note it was interesting to see a couple of guys walking around HQ that night with muscle shirts and exposed tattoos on their arms - thought that was a no no!

Now looking forward to the next anthems night - different venue??

Yeh i've heard a few ppl saying they want it at another venue next time. HQ is great but I guess it doesn't have the 'feel' of a dance party.

I'm voting back at St Pauls... those anthems rocked!!!!

Gotta say I agree, can't stand the place. I've boycotted the place for years (since the heaven days) but headed out to catch a couple of sets in particular... Back to the boycott... will never set foot in that place again. Which is a shame, as there seems to be more and more events being put on there.

Dancing on carpet (hardcore room) sucks... and I personally found the atmosphere to be... well, bizarre. I suppose you get a bit tainted when you very nearly get covered in some drunken wankers stomach contents, then my friend proceeds to the toilets (girls) to find a different drunken wanker (male) pissing in the hand basins, up the walls and on the floors... I guess that I can't blame the venue for the tossers emptying their bodily fluids all over the place, however the staff cleaning up were f#cking rude to both myself, and my friends.

But on a non-whingy note ... it was good to catch up with a couple of people I've not seen for a while, and awesome to see Equinox and H-Bomb back to back from midnight (nice work the both of ya!) loved that I didn't have to wait till the last set for a bit of hardcore!!!

well I thought it was a pretty good night overall besides some of the bouncers being total wankers.... and some drunken fights.......thoroughly enjoyed myself

was good to catch up with everyone and meet some new ppl... including pontiac

and H-Bombs last set was AWESOME!! was great to crank it for a bit

Yeah St Pauls rocked but I have heard it doesnt host stuff like that anymore.. it is for wedding and the such now... (just what I heard) no more raves there

but as I said before if I was to suggest a place viva complex.. I personally love the venue
