I'll keep it quick ..

I'm looking at changing from Netspace (who I've been with for the past 4 years) to Adam Internet.

Basically going to a faster/bigger plan (for the same price) on Adam .. ADSL 1500/256 down/up.

Does anyone have any experience with Adam Internet? What are they like in terms of connectivity, customer service, connection speeds, etc?
jase31
yeah they are not good , but not bad

support is so so

connectivity is average
NokturnL
internode is outstanding for service and good connectivity... all round very good, but also has a hefty price tag to it...

Adam is good cos local pipe d/l aren't counted on your quota, and hence sights like PeeringSA exist that let u D/L local stuff not using any quota so u wont get capped!

Can you expand on that at all?

What connection do you have? What problems have you encountered?

It's pretty good. We have it at home. No problems as yet really. Been having it for the past 1.5 years.

I have just joined with Adam Internet, the plans are definately good value & offer no lock-in in contracts and shaped excess they seem to be a good local provider. On the other hand the connection is not as stable as Telstra but the price for a decent Telstra plan is over the top. Another thing is to do a line check as the speeds you are offered may not even be close to what you get depending on your distance from your local exchange.

Good Luck smile.gif

I agree with Ben on internode - but I don't think there prices are hefty - especially considering the product and service is the best you can get IMO

Iternode all the way i say as well, been with them for over 6 months now and not a single problem and plus you have local support anytime of the day.

oh an not to mention u actually speak to someone who can speak english
NokturnL
you call internode u have a chance of speakin to people who actually know what's going on...

I haven't heard many reports from the Adam helpdesk, but i think they're local helpdesk aswell?
Jutsin
Adam is Adelaide owned and managed, so it'll be the same as Internode re: English speaking, local support.

Also, I'm not looking at signing up with Internode. If I don't change to Adam, I'll be staying with Netspace - so as much as I appreciate the "alternative option", Internode is not even on the books smile.gif

Shen - that sounds excellent to me biggrin.gif

Eternal E - how would I go about getting a line test to determine the maximum speed?
froggy
we have it at work and the modem drops out all the time we have to turn it on and off, not sure if this is our fault or adam i have no idea, but hey thought i'd put it out there

Internode is average.. I recommend Westnet.. I use two seperate internode connections and they are both extremelly average. When I used to use Westnet, had no issues with them at all.. Internode support has gone down hill, I remember the days where the wait was 0 mins, now, I just don't bother as I got a mate who works there..
NokturnL
my bro works at internode... delays aren't they're fault, back in the day when it was 0 mins wait was before they had this many customers, all around australia...

GO with adam, purely support for local internet providers, and also due to the fact that you get free local downloads. I haven't heard bad reports from adam at all, but i haven't even heard of netscape. So my choice would be adam.

Netspace^

A fantastic provider, without a doubt. I've been with them for 7 years, ADSL with them for roughly 4 .. I've never had any issues - but right now it comes down to the fact I can get faster connection through Adam for the same price.

Pending what Jase has to say about why they're dodgy, and also Eternal E's line speed test idea .. I'm leaning towards Adam still smile.gif
jase31
ok they dont support firefox at all, if you ring
and I am having drop out and connectivity problems , but I am getting new computers tommorrow and will see if the situation improves with the different computers

I don't understand what this means, by the way.

How do they not support Firefox?

Do you mean that I won't be able to use Firefox if I'm on Adam ISP - because I don't think that's possible.

Unless you mean if you call up with Firefox issues they won't help you with them - in which case that's understandable, and is not a problem at all.

PS: I signed up to Adam today, should be churned over to them by Sunday/Monday of this coming week biggrin.gif
Trance_Eyes
It means you'll get no software support if you call....

Just use explorer or if you like firefox just use that. I use fire fox all good on Adam.

phone Adam and quote your phone number and they will run a line test for you, the max speed they quote for ADSL2+ 8000kb/s, im getting around 5500kb/s & i'm pretty happy with that biggrin.gif

No surprise or problem there - I've never had to call re: support for anything software related. That's what google is for, as 99/100 times it'll have nothing to do with your ISP (at least that's my experience!).

I did just that, and they said on a 1500 plan I'm guaranteed 1500 speed, it's only if I'm on ADSL2, or on an 8000 plan that I may not get the maximum (depending on distance from exchange, etc).

So from all reports, money to plan value, and convenience - Adam was a good choice to make biggrin.gif I'll let you all know how it goes next week!

PS: Thank you for all your comments/help. Much appreciated smile.gif
