I Need A Sheet Of Metal

Steel or alloy checkerplate would be ideal. About 2.5mm thick

Needs to be approx 900mm X 900mm

I sent the message to my dad, so he should be able to tell me if he can smuggle some from work in about an hour or so, and if that fails I'll go for my step-dad.

My dad said he is going to dig around the factory and see what he can find.
There is a bit of checkerplate around there but he said they are so far the biggest he has found was 600 x 800, but if he finds anything bigger he'll cut it to 900 x 900 for ya

i would have a piece this big at work...

if you can get it free 1st do it.. i could proally do it a bargain price tho

Handy to know, as i thought they sold odd bits too.

If noone comes through possibly go to one of the truck body building places that build stuff for trucks usually have heavier guages of the checkerplate in steel and in aluminium. These guy's buy in bulk ( by the tonne) so are more likely to be able to do the carton of beer exchange especially on a friday

I only need a small peice. I've made a few ph calls and the actual grade im after is 6061 aircraft aluminum, but its very pricey, and no one has any off-cuts, and will only sell me an 8x4 sheet...

I building a small trailer for a 4 wheel dirtbike. The sheet of steel is the baseplate.

ok groovy stuff, well my dad did say he just may be able to get some of what you were after. Steel though, not alloy, and in that checkerplate stuffs.

I could ask in another plant here at clipsal and if so ill take it on the saturday when hardly anyone is here if not my mate works at a truck building place and i will have no worries getting it from there.

Ill send the supervisor an email in the other plant to see what he can do for me.

Oldskoolie i cant get any checker plate from here as we dont stock it and only order it in only when we need to use it. I seen a mate yesterday and he is going to have a look at his work and see what he can do......
