Deleting an item from the Recycle Bin permanently removes it from your computer. Items deleted from the Recycle Bin cannot be restored.

Surely you have the CD from when you got the notebook for the files?

Well, i dunno what Windows is playing at but thats a blatant lie.
There are records of everything on your computer and everything that has ever been on your comp.

But, the way to recover stuff that has been deleted this way (well, the way i did it anyway) is download a program called "Active Undelete"

You'll need to "obtain" registration (PM me when the time comes and i can probably help you with that).

Then with that program run a "deep system scan" or something (can take up to 3 hours) and you can recover all sorts of things.

Good Luck!!

(Also a possibly easier way is, if you know exactly what it was you deleted, you could probably redownload it.)

simply go to control panel click on system then hardware then device manager, it should have a Sounds and Audio devices section and a device labled with an Exclamation mark... Double click on this and click and it MAY have Reinstall driver on the first tab... if not, go to the driver tab and click Update driver... then it should bring u thru a driver install wizard... as the sound drivers should be in the windows Db... If u need more detail or depth lemme know, or gimme a call...
Elektro Kittenr
Drivers don't go to the recycle bin. System restore (like explained about) has restore points for all existing drivers (amongst other things etc) on there. If you have the internet, you should be able to find it pretty easily if the update driver doesn't work.

Go to the properties of the sound device and find the full name and modle, and go to the companies' website

shhh dont tell Jase.... HAHAHAHA! instead just post it on a public forum that he reads.

I hate freaking computer! %$#&@*

I downloaded a sound driver for XP, I have to buy it in 40 days (sounds right?) and its sitting on the desktop and wont install.

The wizard cant find the program, and its all too hard......ARRGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I cant reset the computer coz I'd loose too much stuff, I never back up.

I was gonna download the active undelete pro 5.5 program but iys $40 US, so that's not an option.

Im pissed now. And I have a freaking screaming child and an assignment due next week which of course I havent even started.

and why the frak didnt this computer come with a freaking disk is beyond me.

1. why do you need sound for your assignment?

2. the file you downloaded should be for your motherboard not for XP. what is the file extension? ie: what is written after the 'fullstop' in the file name?

3. why dont you back-up your stuff? then you wont lose it.

4. what is the brand of the pc? you should be able to go to the maufacturers site and download whatever drivers you need from there.

HAHAHHAA!. LIES!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Doing a system restore does not affect your files or folders. Only registry, program, and system files... It will be safe for you to go back to the most recent restore point.
grooverr
1. I dont, but I play music on the computer while im typing away to drown out all other noise so i can concentrate...I can put the radio on the surround sound thing i suppose.

2. the file is "sound-xp-510005870" its in a win zip file ( fraked if I know what it all means).

3. Im trying to back up, there's over 50Gig worth of music alone, what happens with things like g-force? It was trying to clean up disk space and trying to organise the computer that I fraked things up...I think.

4. Its a toshiba notebook, I went to toshiba andfound this file, except now I have to buy it after 40 days trial (?), so thta means I fork out lots of money ina months time or no sound again??

And now Im obsessed with this making it very hard to focus on any assignment...and poor Allegra is sick too... sad.gif

Sux to be me right about now. smile.gif

I've never restored a computer...so I dont know what to expect... it all foreign language to me, I admit Im to totally ignorant when it comes to computers
Oldskoolier
dont buy anything..

Restore first.

Go to START -> HELP and SUPPORT -> Undo changes to your computer with System Restore -> Restore to an earlier time... follow the bouncing ball from there...

It will not affect your files or folder ie music, photo's documents, etc....

Thanks Ben, so nice of you... hypocritesmiley.png

But its OK, I have told Jase everything I have done or tried to...and he will look at it tonight after work. I hope things get fixed...I want my tunes

However, i may ring you with some help with my physics assignement. Got any textbooks with electronics? I need to talk about Low and High pass filters, explain CMRR (common mode rejection ration) and Infrared red spectroscopy/ fuel cell analysis in relation to CO/CO2. puke.gif

NokturnLr
Yeah np... i have a lot of text books and filters Used to be my specialty when i did Mech Eng... smile.gif So gimme a call and i'll see what i can help u with... Not too sure about the CMRR but Infrared spectroscopy is very basic if u understand it, but i'll have to come and sit down and explain it to u... Time and date and i'll be there! smile.gif

What do you mean? GForce is a Video Card, I don't think they make sound hardware...

Sometimes when you install XP the driver might already come on the XP Install CD or else you'd get a CD with the video card...

groover, here is a list of free/trial recovery programs (you probably won't need them forever if you only need to recover it once)

hey guys, just bought a seagate 320Gb sata hard drive, trying to install it...

loaded up the cmos options from the booting up screen... and its password protected (wtf) is there a standard password for this or have the guys who redid my motherboard put their own password on it?

i just wanna get the computer to recognise the second hard drive so i cvan partition it, chuck all my old stuff on it, wipe my old hard drive and start over.

cheers, marchie
